「山だけはダメ！」 (Yama Dakeha Dame!)
“Anything But Mountains!”
Cute girls climbing mountains – that’s the premise behind Yama no Susume, and it’s exactly what you’re thinking it is. So why am I bothering to intro it? Because shorts are often ignored merely because they’re shorts, but if you like slice of life, this is a good one you may enjoy checking out.
Are the girls cute? Yes, they are. Main girl Yukimura Aoi (Iguchi Yuka) is bad with people and deathly afraid of heights, making her a magnet for misfortune and the cute zetsubou faces that accompany it. While she receives the misfortune, her elementary school friend Hinata (Asumi Kana) is the one obliviouslydishing it out with her perky, blunt personality. Their dynamic works well, and the seiyuu are total pros. All good so far.
How’s the animation? Good. The early classroom sweep was a touch odd, but the rest was of good quality, something I wouldn’t be surprised to see in a full-length series. How about the story? What story. This is slice of life, people!
All in all, the first episode was far better than most shorts I’ve watched. For those, the greatest worry is that they’re going to be badly animated, have little time to tell a story or make a joke, and all around just be shifty productions. With Yama no Susume, that’s not the case. If you like slice of life shows starring cute girls, I suggest you check it out. After all, it’s only 3 minutes long, and I give it the Stilts Seal of Approval as a non-shifty show. That counts for something, right?

I enjoyed this. I wish this was a normal full length series instead of some of the other stuff airing this winter.

when you look at it from screenshots you keep getting the feel that this should be the regular length type of anime…such a shame that it isn’t

I think I’ll keep watching, it’s a different kind of story that I don’t see much of so I think I can spare 3 minutes.
I really feel for characters like Aoi who take so much misfortune from some of the people around them. Even though they may have the best of intentions it annoys me sometimes when they never consider the other persons feelings.

well, with an episode so short, you can’t expect epic Kyokaisenjou – class post…
Maybe I’m the only one who thinks so , but because its so short , I have time to watch it along with the other series I am watchign this season

Oops , I didn’t finish the sentence…i meant that Yama no Susume’s shortness means I can watch this as well as the other 4 series-making its length a very good thing ^^

This one amazingly good. But if only this anime is a full-length episodes.
Aoi reminds me of my little sister lol. She just can’t use a escalator without some1 guiding her.

Sorry… this is just too short. Dropped until I can get all the episodes and mesh them together in one episode.
Even only 3 minutes but I was funnier than another 3 minutes anime this season.
Totally watchable. 3 minutes at a time is about enough moe for me.
