Ouran High School Host Club (Drama) – 11 (END)

「Last Episode」

Unlike the anime that featured an original ending with Éclair Tonnerre, the drama sticks to the source material where Tamaki decides to quit the Host Club for Haruhi’s sake. Having seen both variations, I have to say that I prefer the manga’s storyline, simply because it directly involves Haruhi.

「Episode 9」

The Ouran High School Host Club drama isn’t quite over yet, but a movie announcement has already been made. The timing for it seems appropriate, coming off an episode about Haruhi and Hikaru’s first date that gave a healthy dose of everything this live-action adaptation has to offer.

「Episode 8」

Given Nekozawa Umehito’s prominent role in the drama, it doesn’t come as any real surprise that the episode about him and his younger sister Kirimi (Sawada Mone) would be adapted. While I don’t really care too much about Nekozawa’s character, it is nice to hear Ryuusei Ryou use a normal voice for a change.

「Episode 7」

Well it looks like my doubts about Haruhi’s father “Ranka” making an appearance were quickly put to rest, as the drama does provide its own take on the house visit. Much to my surprise, Totsugi Shigeyuki played him amazingly well — as well as one could probably expect from a cross-dressing father anyway.

Ouran High School Host Club (Drama) – 01

「Episode 1」

The live-action Ouran Hight School Host Club drama is here and boy is it a doozie. I thought an eccentric Suou Tamaki voiced by Miyano Mamoru was a bit much, but Yamamoto Yuusuke takes it to another level. Don’t even get me started about the twins, Hitachiin Kaoru and Hikaru, played by real-life twin actors Takagi Manpei and Shinpei respectively, who take their forbidden love act to uncomfortable extremes. That’s the number one thing that I wasn’t looking forward to at all. 3D can be pretty dangerous.
