  • Welcome to the first edition of the Daily Dose! One of the things I’ve always wanted Random Curiosity to be is a reliable source of news. I’ve tried to do this a little in the past with my Random Musings posts, but that hasn’t really been consistent, and hopefully this will be. The goal is for this to be a daily news digest of what’s going on in the anime world. I’ll be pulling from a lot of sources, and with luck, there’ll be stuff here that you won’t necessarily find from other places (though admittedly that can be hard in this day and age). So without further ado…
  • The 2nd CODE GEASS R2 opening song has been officially announced to be FLOW’s WORLD END. As most of you may remember, FLOW sang the first OP to the original CODE GEASS series, so it’s nice to see this come full circle, especially since ALI PROJECT is also doing R2’s new ED. The WORLD END single is due out August 13th, 2008.
  • The official CLANNAD site is now hosting a short preview video for the Tomoyo-centric episode 24 of CLANNAD. If you listen until the end, you can hear Mr. Ubiquitous Fukuyama Jun. In any case, the episode takes place in an alternate universe where Tomoya and Tomoyo are dating and will be released on July 16th with the eighth DVD. eggplant has a spoiler-filled report of the special screening from last week.
  • Canned Dogs has compiled together some images from the newest issue of Newtype that features Suzumiya Haruhi.
  • Amazon.co.jp is streaming the first five-minute episode of the animated version of Detroit Metal City. This comedy story involves a shy guy who becomes the lead singer of a death metal band, and there’s a live-action movie version coming out in August.
  • Oh and I almost forgot to mention: if you find anything that you think I should mention on any particular day’s Daily Dose, please send me an email with the words “ANIME NEWS” somewhere in the subject line.

    5. a completely new haruhi series not a second season? Sounds pretty risky because if it gets compared with the first one and can’t stand up to it the fans will reject it.

    9. A NEW HARUHI SERIES?! will they still be following the original ideas of the manga? The whole disappearance thing, ahem ahem. This doesn’t sound good at all…the animation looks nice as always, but it looks like this’ll just be a bomb. It it like a remake? Will they cover the story of Season 1 differently? Ugh.

    10. Never bothered to comment anything on your blog before but this needs it. This is a fantastic idea, you probably have access to much wider range of resources than your average English speaking fan, and this post already has several news that were both interesting and new to me. It might be a bit of hassle to pull this off daily, but even a weekly edition of this would be very nice thing to have.

    22. LOL I can’t believe Fukuyama Jun is playing the role of the student council guy that pesters Tomoya from time to time. Him playing the role might actually make me hate that character less.

    27. Tomoyo’s After story is probably the most touching arc in all of Clannad even more so than the Nagisa arc IMHO. It defines Key’s trademark “cry-wank” style. So it’s really good news to hear they’re finally doing the After for both girls. However the thing that pisses me off is how Kyoani is keeping dangling that Haruhi carrot in front of the fans. C’MON now, tell us already and don’t give us that “remaking” Haruhi crap either!!

      FLOW ROCK theyre one of the only groups who do consistently great (though similar sounding)
      OP’s for animes (COLOURS sounds like a sped up version of DAYS etc…)

    38. I really like the Tomoyo ending better; I mean, she can actually have an equal, reciprocal relationship with Tomoya, while Nagisa is just in need of so much help and care, and won’t live very far into adulthood.

    39. As people have previously mentioned, only one site to visit for news 😀
      Also, im sort of curious on how the 24th episode of Clannad will be like. Because according to the spoilers it seems ep 23 and 24 will be somewhat disjointed for a final episode.

    41. Man if this isn’t The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya then I don’t know what’s wrong with the guys from KyoAni. The concept art CLEARLY shows it.
