「決闘しようぜ、王子様」 (Kettou Shiyou ze, Ouji-sama)
“Let’s Duel, Prince”

Well I did say the fun and games would start shortly in Mobseka and we’re now looking at that moment. Hard not seeing how impromptu duels and self-styled background character claims to fame can turn out any other way, especially when potential marriage is on the line. Won’t be long before Leon starts building that harem of his own – whether he wants to or not.

As promised last week Marie’s backstory wouldn’t take too long to play out and the first part of that happened here. Probably not too surprising the girl is also an isekai transplant given her multirole as cockblock, homewrecker, and cuckold generator, but the key detail left outstanding is her actual identity. Is she Leon’s real-world sister? A childhood friend? Or is she rather another random whom Leon has no familiarity with whatsoever? Marie’s own knowledge of the game plot and character lines has me suspecting she’s the sister (particularly given the girl share’s Leon’s sister’s clear desire to win without putting in much effort), but I kind of hope she’s someone else in the end. Just think of the harem potential once Leon inevitably upstages the prince’s party.

Speaking of princes, have to also admit I got a kick out the setup for finally bringing both groups into conflict. While harem setups are thoroughly explored at this stage in both the traditional (i.e. dweeby) and flipped script aspects, getting a kid who decides to enter the game – and with confidence to boot – simply because he loathes the other side is a pretty decent bit of development. Doubly so when Leon doesn’t so much as bat an eye at the backlash against him or what his comedic relief partners do to retain their positions. This development has me looking forward to seeing what the fallout of this duel will be, for while fairly clear Leon is going to attract a great deal of attention (both good and bad), how he handles it will almost certainly prove entertaining.

After all, cannot have Olivia simply walking away with the prize for free. The best relationships always emerge after a bit of struggle, and something tells me Leon is about to get far more than he possibly bargained for.

  1. This world Leon is in is totally messed up. I suppose it’s befitting an otome game.

I want Leon to stomp those 5 arrogant pricks hard. Can’t stand those type of people.

  2. I don’t think Marie bering Leon’s IRL sister makes much sense in context, since he’s the one who unlocked all the game’s stuff for her, without her needing to play all the routes.

  3. The author’s afterwords from the novel state that Mobseka was created as an otome-game style novel for male readers (esp. since most otome stories usually target female readers).

  4. Just look at Angelica in that red dress and then look at Marie. Who in their right minds would throw that away for 1/5 of a waif whose body weight is mostly made up of hair?

  5. I don’t love or hate Marie’s as a character since her role in this is entirely to get what she wants when she wants it by instigating a fight between Angelica and the five simps. this also includes destroying the plot to this Otome game.

Leon better pick up the pace, its three episodes in and he is still information gathering on the situation plus the circumstances revolving Marie and the five stooges. I get that Leon’s the half baked stoic but seriously though the five idiots needs a pineapple up their b*hole as of EP 2.

  6. My wife and daughters are watching this anime.

    How did I find out?

Because in this episode, the heroine (or one of them) is wearing a dress which looks awfully like my wife’s red satin ballgown dress, with a few minor alterations and undergarment palette (and a few major deviations which are CLEAR exaggerations which don’t make sense from a practical point of view, of course, especially that overly low V-neck).

Also, it’s completely unrealistic (and sick-minded) that a real man with martial gravitas would choose a loli over the voluptuous looker. A real woman requires both the physical and mental capacity nurture and feed her young.

It’s unanimous; the Princes are disgusting – apparently the author is on the right track here – and that makes them the perfect villains.

    1. I don’t understand it myself, but then again the prince could simply be under some other effect beyond preferring washboards to huge tracts of land. The speed at which Marie usurped Olivia’s role (when Olivia herself is pretty damn well-endowed) suggests there’s more at work than simple appearances here.

  7. I think Marie basically used her knowledge of the game to steal the princes events, so she knew how they were emotionally vulnerable.

I wonder if the “noble from the contryside with a bad personality” Angelica was supposed to marry in her bad end is Leon?
