“Taboo in [Red]”
To be honest I wasn’t sure whether I’d stick with Virgin Road after the traditional three episodes, but the series is sorely tempting me to see just where it goes. There’s nothing especially outstanding or unique about the mechanics at work, but combine premise, twists, and potential and darling you’ve got yourself an interesting isekai. It’s just a question of how well Virgin Road can stick the landing.
In hindsight I’m really kicking myself for failing to consider the effects of Akari’s power on Virgin Road’s overarching story. Much as a few prescient commenters brought up last week Akari could very well be someone Menou knew in the past: those dreams of hers aren’t red herrings, Menou’s own past remains deliberately vague, and nothing says plot twist like revealing the executioner to be an isekai transplant herself. Hell this episode took some great steps towards instantiating that point as Akari has obviously used her power in some capacity for reasons yet unanswered. Is it because of train crash and Menou dying? Is it due to one red knight overpowering cutie pie? Or maybe something else like jealous kouhai disobeying orders? Honestly could be anything, but the one certain thing is any hope of actually killing Akari soon is bound to be disappointed.
Building off the uncertainty of Akari’s survival is the matter of Princess Ashuna too. Besides the hilarity coming from overeager tomboy nicely complementing pink haired crazy, Ashuna’s involvement hearkens towards trouble (read: fun and games) once she’s inevitably made aware of Akari’s existence. Her father after all is on trial for breaking taboo, no reason why she wouldn’t hesitate to strike out and gain a bargaining chip to secure her father’s life and (by extension) her own position. Couple on too the near certainty of Akari finding out what Menou’s true intentions are in the process and what’s already a tenuous situation is guaranteed to get incredibly chaotic.
It’s anyone’s guess just what happens when that veil is finally lifted, but rest assured Virgin Road hasn’t yet revealed the aces up its sleeve.

Best show this season. Well thought out magic system and world, great action, and multiple factions and nifty characters
Personally I wouldn’t pin this one as the AOTS (too many contenders on that front) but it’s definitely turning out far better than expected. Probably just goes to show how a bit of decently executed mystery and organized plot goes a long way towards making an interesting story.

Momo is crazy for Menou.
Menou starts to feel something for Akari.
Ashuna has hots for Momo.
Momo despises Ashuna, yet a bit admires her strength.
cant wait for when Akari will get to know Momo in person.
Not sure if Ashuna will survive too long, but if she gets to know Akari and Menou, what will their relations be?
Ashuna might reveal Menou’s true purpose as executioner, but will Akari listen to ax-crazy blood-knight princess when she wants to believe pure, strong and just priestess?
