「天恵武姫の病」 (Hairaru Menasu no Yamai)
“The Hyral Menas’s Disease”

Having family matters (read: long weekend shenanigans) take away from my weekly anime really makes me a sad panda, especially when it winds up being Eiyuuou that draws the short stick. Yes, family comes first and a day’s delay in rambling about rambunctious cutie pies isn’t the worst thing in the world – but seriously, rambunctious cutie pies!

After a couple weeks of veritable filler material it’s a return to more plot-relevant details this time around, and with some Highlander-specific ones to boot. Given the (surprising) nuances of ground-based politics and its various factions here, it should probably be no surprise that the Highlanders have them too, and to greater effect. The mentioned Hierarchy for one are your quintessential hoarders out to only give what’s absolutely essential to retain control, while the Grand Dutchy are the more liberal clique who are willing to share some, yet still not that much all things considered. Taken as a whole it’s a good hint that the main conflict of the moment will be determining which Highlander faction winds up victorious, and who (and what) will be needed to realize that outcome. Ripple and her fellow Hyral Menases are already shaping up to be key pieces of that puzzle, but I wouldn’t put it past Inglis and her past to also factor heavily into things once the conflict gets going. After all, got to give one mascot another chance to shine.

And speaking of shining, well, I dare say the images this week do a pretty decent job. For all I’ve lauded how well Eiyuuou handles its cute and funny it’s hard to understate just how good it keeps on being. Inglis being in a dress and still not showing any signs of embarrassment belying a male mind are a good case in point (you know you have fighting always on the mind when), but that chuckle-worthy display of jealous concern over Rani flirting with the envoy definitely upped the ante. I was prepared for further Rani fantasizing on Inglis matchmaking, but Inglis doing the same to Rani? And both potentially doing so at the same time with the same people? Oh yes please let that happen, it’ll be glorious. Plus with the party now complete and with a damsel in distress to care for there’ll be plenty of opportunities for such hilarity to leave a proper mark.

Methinks the last half of this season is going to be a ride.

  1. Unless they’re simply rearranging things, there’s a sizeable chunk of LN gone missing here, and that makes me wonder how far they’re trying to get in this season. Oh well.

Star of the show this week was definitely the titter critter, though.
