 Not Covering

Now that every show has had a few episodes to make its case, it’s time to tell you what we’ll be blogging this season. This is Random Curiosity’s Fall 2023 blogging schedule.

As per illustrious tradition, this is a tentative overview of our plans for the new season . . . or would be, but with multiple episodes under our belts, we’re pretty confident in our picks. Will some of them fall flat in the home stretch? Probably. This is what we’ll stick with for now, barring any unforeseen changes in the near future.

Simply put it’s an overwhelming season in terms of choice, enough so that all of us had to make some serious choices in terms in intros and coverage given other responsibilities. There’s a lot not being covered – but don’t think for a moment we’re not watching much. In particular there may or may not be a mid-season touch-point for the deluge of fantasy and isekai gracing our screens…

As for where some of that coverage time is going? Don’t forget that end of the year is rapidly approaching, an overdue Patreon supporter post is awaiting publish, the AOTY post is calling, and there’s that small matter of the Winter 2024 preview we aren’t about to forget about. Less coverage, yet plenty of writing to look forward to. Oh, and a surprise podcast, since that’s also a thing 😉

Before I leave off I’ll sum it all up as usual with a huge thank you to all. Random Curiosity keeps chugging on thanks to you guys, so make sure you stay safe, stay healthy, and enjoy the fall weather and the absolutely ridiculous anime offering we have before the snow finally hits and the days never get above zero. Catch you all soon!

  1. Thanks for covering what you can, though I wouldn’t mind some season finale impressions of series that you weren’t able to cover but were surprisingly good (or had good word-of-mouth from viewers).

    Watching and covered:
Rurouni Kenshin (2023) – That’s the Raijuta arc done and dusted… I might have a question or two regarding the director of that arc in the ’96 anime.

    Watching, but not covered:
MF Ghost – The MFG race proper finally begins.
Goblin Slayer Season 2 – Priestess earns her stripes, the Wizard Boy learns what it takes to be a better adventurer/spellcaster, and Goblin Slayer regains a bit of humanity after being hardened for so long killing goblins.
Shield Hero Season 3 – S’yne…what’s her deal? And what’s with her voice? On a different note, Sadeena is one sexy demihuman orca. (*Distant angy “Poe poe” noises from a certain Isshiki Iroha-like stinky orca VTuber*) And finally, the damn Cyka Blyat is back…and the Sword Hero is now her “toy.” (Doing the “divide and conquer” play, I see.)
Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season–Kanketsu-hen – Can’t wait to finally see it, as I chomp on the bit for November to arrive.

    Picked up:
Shangri-La Frontier – I may not be a challenge gamer (and someone not too keen on VR and AI-run live-service games), but this show did prove to be fun so far.

    On hold (future catch-up/marathon?):
    The iDOLM@STER MILLION LIVE!
Konyaku Haki sareta Reijou wo Hirotta Ore ga, Ikenai Koto wo Oshiekomu
    Hikikomari Kyuuketsuki no Monmon
    SHY
Keikenzumi na Kimi to, Keiken Zero na Ore ga, Otsukiai suru Hanashi

    Still on the lookout for:
    Temple Specials
    Girls und Panzer: Saishuushou 4
    Shin Yaranaika
    – The last few episodes of Zom 100: Zombie ni Naru made ni Shitai 100 no Koto.
