「 壊玉-参-」 (Kaigyoku -San-)
“Hidden Inventory 3”

No, I am not okay, and neither are you.

*spoilers imminent* *final warning*

Okay with a little bit of time having passed, it should be okay for everyone to come into this review. Going forward I think this is a great way of keeping everyone in the loop and should be enough time for everyone to have had a chance to watch the episode. So expect your JJK reviews around Saturday!

Nevertheless, I was absolutely destroyed, it’s hard when shonen shows like JJK do something like this, especially so out of the blue. It practically came out of nowhere. It’s one thing with Made in Abyss for example where you know that show is just pain and suffering. But JJK is funny and has happy undertones. Gojo and Riko having fun at the beach is as wholesome as it gets. But of course, Touji was behind their every step. And was actually wearing Gojo down in order to get to his attack. Oh how delicious it was. If anything the past two episodes have been really building up Touji to be this perfect bad guy. And well – he delivered.

It’s not always the bad guys who get their way with drawn-out shonen battles of intense stares.

Gojo was defeated and in turn, Riko was as well, that gunshot was absolutely brutal. Touji kills with little compassion, as a bad guy should. Furthermore, we learn that it was he who actually put up the bounty and was quietly waiting for Gojo to turn down his infinity barrier. Who could have known that Touji would attack at the very end of the mission, just before Riko was close to Tengen-sama?

So now it’s up to Suguru, I love his switch-up when he learned that Gojo has been killed and furthermore Riko as well, it’s right in front of him and Suguru has to do something about it. This episode was absolute perfection. I did wonder why we got some shots of still life, like when Riko is quietly walking the aquarium. Or going bout the flower field. Or why did they decide to stay one more day in Okinawa? But I think once again JJK is playing with juxtaposition. It’s clear they wanted us to think everything was going to be okay, even having played Misato’s kidnapping down. Gojo just bursts in like he owns the place and saves Misato in something that could have been an e-mail. Then it’s off to Okinawa and having shenanigans and happy times.

They wanted us to feel safe, they wanted us to recline back in our seats and enjoy the show, thinking they would be doing a great job at protecting Riko, in fact, Touji wasn’t even mentioned, like they were playing with us hoping, we would forget he was on their trail. I should have seen it coming when Suguru mentions to Gojo he noticed how he hasn’t been sleeping, and how he knows of his plan not to sleep tonight either. But either way having read very little of this part of the manga. I did not see it coming, and I think I’d like to keep it way. The animation was ever so good and tasty that I can’t help myself. I’m a glutton for a good story, especially one that pulls the rug under you like they did this episode.

Unfortunately, nothing much more to say on my part, except just how much I keep enjoying this show and how absolutely madly in love I’m with it at the moment. JJK is doing great at keeping my attention and keeping me hooked week by week. Can’t say more than absolute praise for this show! Even if I did have my little crying session after watching the episode multiple times.

I keep telling myself Gojo is going to be fine! We saw him with Itadori. But how exactly will he be saved, is only something we can hope to find out as we continue watching this show. Nevertheless – I’m really enjoying it. And it’s always a treat to put on this show. And please remember to keep spoilers out of the comment section. Thank you.

  1. This arc has been very enjoyable due in large part to the incredible animation, even better than last season.

Having said that, suspense is kind of lacking seeing as we already know these characters don’t die

    1. What about the suspense for the girl and maid? You know the characters we do not see in the main story! The whole fucking point of this arc is to see how it affects Gojo and Geto in the present so there some suspense or do you judt not appreciate good storytelling and just want to fucking nitpick!?

    2. Yeah it was certainly shocking to see that, but didn’t have much impact because we know he survives.

When that girl was killed I had to chuckle. I actually like this villain. He’s so straightforward and is just doing a job.

  2. I skipped almost all of this flashback ark in the manga, and it being animated hasnt helped it. But its easier to skip I guess…..
Easily the weakest part of the story.
