「見えざる真意」 (Miezaru Shin’i)
“Unseen Intentions”
It’s hard watching Eminence in Shadow some weeks. Not for the material mind you, oh no that still is glorious in all the right way. Nawh rather for the knowledge we only have four weeks of this hilarious isekai ride left and no guarantee of a continuation down the line. I’m sure there will be some form of sequel since 20 episodes is such a weird number for a two cour run – but waiting is hard alright? I want my fix now!
Outside of tongue in cheek musings, this week was largely devoted to upping the ante of last episode’s shenanigans. Cid basically went full powerhouse, both eking out victories that absolutely no one can make sense of and obtaining the responses from soon-to-be competition that any true mob (boss) salivates over. Annerose was probably the most hilarious part of this, thinking she has everything Cid is doing figured out (mostly) only to stand in sheer bewilderment as the 300 pound gauntlets are dropped and the neck cracking technique proves to be anything but. I almost felt for the girl reading too hard into natural slouch mannerisms and tickled nose hairs – until realizing how damn funny it will be if Cid crushes her with a cough. Oh please, let there be a cough.
On a more serious note is Rose who as fully promised isn’t really committing murder by design. Besides not actually killing off her fiancé Perv Asshat (still cannot believe that’s his real name), it’s been made abundantly clear that Rose’s alleged actions are effectively a front to cover up what Perv is getting up to in the meantime – i.e. pulling a Wormtongue with Alexia’s and Iris’ father. Given the near certainty the Cult is involved this the only major question is when the relationship comes out. It’s fairly obvious the advantage to be had by gaining control of the king after all, and we know the Cult sees Shadow Garden as a threat worthy of elimination through any means necessary. Not hard seeing where such planning for this latest development comes from, so we’ll just have to see which thread is pulled to unravel this little mystery.
Considering one familiar elf relation has just made an appearance out the blue, I think the answer to that won’t take long to arrive.
Yeah Beatrix and Annerose are cool, but Claire where is she? And Kevin, goddamn Kevin! We had Gonzales and TsugiwaMakenai, but Kevin is forgotten. Poor Iris, seems that being right doesn’t give her authority to correct what is wrong. Bureaucracy, the old nemesis for any hothead.
It is never fair to use Hikaru Midorikawa to voice someone who’s supposedly be mob or background character. His charisma simply made him immediate protagonist or at least cool mentor/villain.
Rose’s dad have a funny hairstyle. And this is coming from a country supposedly about aesthetic, arts and musics…… and maybe fashions if Mitsugoshi didn’t design better panties.
From what I understood, that king was Rose’s father, not Iris’, there with Oriana’s delegation. Perv Asshat (fitting name, truth be told) kept talking about how “our kingdom” would take care of the issue while telling Iris not to meddle. Still troublesome.
Damn, I didn’t know there are only 4 episodes left. A pity, I was having fun. While the beginnings made me a bit wary, when the series started embracing the fun and the absurdity of the premise without qualms, it became one of my favorites. Good job with the comedy timing, such as in this episode with Mundane Mann XD
Well… if you want more, there’s always the gacha game Master of Garden. It includes an entire storyline surrounding the seven Shadows of Shadow Garden when they were younger and what they had been up to. It shows how Shadow Garden grew and developed under their tutelage – some highlights is how Gamma established Mitsugoshi, how Beta became a writer and how Epsilon became a socialite. Its really necessary reading for any fan of the show. Its gacha though, so your mileage may vary.
