I have a bit of a confession this week, I’ve already read quite a bit into the manga. That doesn’t usually happen for me with seasonal anime, but there was something about Tondemo Sukiru de Isekai Horo Meshi that compelled me to buy the first volume and start reading, well let’s just say all current serialized eight volumes have made their way into my Kindle app. I have a great need to keep on reading and you could say I’m currently hooked and loving every second of it. There’s certainly a lot of charm to it, and MAPPA is doing a great job at bringing the manga to life.

In this episode I noticed that there was quite a bit of BGM, it fitted the theme and seemed to fade into the background as a good OST should do, it helped me really get into the fantasy setting, picking up straight from where we left off last week Mukouda notices that there is just a bit of Red Boar meat left since Fel decided to gobble up a bunch of meat last week in order to complete the familiar contract and deemed Mukouda worthy of his OP powers. Speaking of Fel, the Fenrir character, I really agree with the VA choice for him, when reading the manga he comes off as somewhat of a puppy-like character, but giving him a deep treble, from the work of (Hino, Satoshi) is and was the correct choice. It took me by surprise now that he spoke proper. But mentioning that might be redundant since last week I spoke about Fel as well.

Nevertheless – Mukouda and the party continue on their journey toward the next border, but when they arrive there they are met with some retaliation as people seemed to be scared of Fel, but after some deliberation, Mukouda and Fel are allowed entry. Of course not without paying the border tax, which came to a couple of silver I believe, but then he is made to pay another tax when entering the city. But worry not – he’s about to make a bunch of money and not from the way you would think.

Arriving at town Mukouda makes his way towards the merchant’s guild, where he is welcomed by a very nice lady – seems adventurers in this world have a little bit of a reputation for being indecent or way too rowdy. As proven by how Mukouda would react to the idea of being a Knight and also on his way out of the merchants guild he almost bumps into a mean-looking guy. After registering some more cooking goes underway, and Mukouda makes Fel try different meat flavoring, but Fel ultimately decides Onion flavoring is his favorite. Even though Fel is gluttony – there’s already something endearing to him. And the fact Mukouda can control (in the light sensitivity of the word) him and give him orders to hunt his own food is also a plus on the likable scale. Fel can provide for himself, but wants Mukouda to be his own personal chef, certainly understandable as all of the food he cooks looks delectable indeed.

Before registering to be an adventurer – Mukouda makes his way to the merchant guild in order to sell nonother than – salt and pepper! The whereabouts of how he got it is on a need-to-know basis. You read that right, seems the anime (manga and LN) is taking the approach of what history tells us was the price during the middle ages, as it seems. Around 300 CE, 100 kg of salt was worth around 4 days of labor. That’s around 4 carts of apples or one whole human being, more or less. This isn’t an exact science. So take it with a grain of salt (w笑w). Mukouda get’s almost 17 pieces of gold if I remember correctly, but only because he was so shocked that the salesman knew that he was actually trying to undervalue the wares, but thanks to Mukouda’s isekai knowledge he was able to outsmart the guy. So at least on the money stand front he’s good for a little while at least. And it seems prices on his Online Super are cheaper than anywhere else. Lucky!

Changing tracks – Both the BGM and the actual scenery BG’s were a treat to behold, MAPPA really went all out with this one and is making a very enjoyable series and adaptation alike. I have already fallen in love and can’t wait to enjoy this week by week and talk about it with you guys!
