Well, the Endless Eight arc didn’t finish again. In fact, it ended pretty much exactly like the last episode did, with Kyon putting things off, which means we’re in for the same stuff again next week. And who knows, maybe they really will keep it going for the rest of the series – the thought of it makes me shudder. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that Kyoto Animation would try a stunt like this, however it’s very discouraging for someone like me who wants to see more new stuff. It certainly doesn’t give me any extra motivation to blog this episode or watch next week’s, but of course I still will (though it’ll be after I write up Umineko). Ugh…

Well, it is the same chapter, but the artistic effort in animation and direction is epic.
I got list from friend with release dates and titles of each ep. Almost everything (except for titles of current arc) was going according to it, so i think it’s correct.

I honestly don’t know how you expect an arc about a TIME LOOP to end so quickly. It won’t take the entire series but have some faith that it will take a reasonable amount of time and END. Heh, faith. This coming from an atheist. OLOL

Well, this was unexpected. I don’t really see any point of repeating it a THIRD time, but nonetheless it’s more Haruhi. I really hope they finish the arc by the next episode.

Omiruk: I’m pretty sure that was a speculative list based on the novel chapter timeline. I doubt that it’s right because 1. we’re not in the Sighs of Suzumiya Haruhi right now, 2. even if that were mislabeled, they can’t do episode 00 without doing Sighs first, and Sighs has to take longer than 1 episode, which would throw off that entire schedule.

What I find strange is not kyoani doing the groundhog day anime version but people complaining about something they haven’t seen yet.

Kyoani knows that no matter what they do people will still flock to buy their DVD’s en masse. I saw this shift in how they deal with productions coming a long long time ago.
Of course there are those that will praise this maneuever as genius and clever, but just as many as those who will be freaking the freak. Both sides of the equation are hilarious and this is getting exciting from the standpoint of watching reactions to the episodes.

If you think you can understand the KyoAni, you’re misunderstand KyoAni.
They really only needed 2 episodes for this, this is overkill. While mirroring ‘Endless eight’ by making it seem endless to the viewers may sound nice on paper, it really isn’t that good of an idea in practice.

I don’t like the fact that they are making this longer than they needed but its not much of a problem for me since I really like the series. I won’t judge them too harshly right now. If they think that having one small arc extending much longer than it should won’t interfere with the other (and better) arcs then they can go right ahead. Let’s just hope they know what they’re doing and aren’t simply doing this to piss us off.

The series has been destroyed. Not only the trolling leading up to the actual new season, but new ep slots being wasted by the same crap. Should have been one ep, done and dusted.
So far, Haruhi season 2 has failed epically.
On a more positive note, Umineko was superb. Loved the ep and the OP is really fitting.

Yeah so I’ll yeah skip most of the next 2 eps. Maybe I’ll just look at the new parts, if you can call it that. I don’t have any expectations for KyoAni anymore. But I just wish they would stop doing stuff that has been beat to death already by 1st seasons, manga, games, etc. Can’t they come up with anything themselves O.o
Soon they’ll just start replaying the past few episodes to see if we notice.
Seriously, though, I don’t want to believe KyoAni is trolling us, but it’s getting hard not to.
I don’t see what’s the big fuss.
Most of the people complaining are those who already know the story and just want it to end in a day, just like in the novels.
I think KyoAni have given us a great spin on this chapter, and I like noticing different subtleties between each “loop”. Its not the same damned episode if you stop whining and start looking.
And besides, I don’t think KyoAni want Season 2 to feel like Season 1 with more FILLER EPISODES (which most people complain about too).
Why can’t we just watch and enjoy ^^
What I find most amazing is that they do different (exquisite quality) animations for basically the same plot…
It’s like burning money in an open fire!
Probably they want to make feel the viewers the “feeling” that the novel can’t transmit: The frustration of repeating the same events time after time. And make a better base for the events @ Vanishment of Haruhi Suzumiya… If the viewer get the same feelings as Nagato (the only member that view the same chapter 15000+ times) they (kyoani) have won.
Anyone that have already read the novels will know what i’m talking about.

When I saw the first episode of Endless Eight, I said to myself “OH GOD, I hope this is only 1 – 2 episodes max.” I never thought they’d even contemplate doing this story, out of all the stories to do. After watching episode 2 I said to myself, “well, maybe they’ll put their own twist on it”. After this episode?
I bashed my head against the screen.
Most everyone already knows how it ends (originally), and I want to say I’m not going to watch another episode of it… but. What if they do twist? I don’t want to miss that and have it spoiled for me.
Kyoto are trolling the hell out of us.
It should’ve just been 2 episodes, maybe 3 if they actually wrapped it up. But no, they’re dragging it on even longer. Why couldn’t they just end it on the 15,498th one like in the light novels?
Also why doesn’t Nagato just tell them they’re in the loop at the beginning of each one?

I think they’re trying to make us feel just as bored as the person who remembers that time is repeating over and over again to the point we feel is happening to us
for how long this has to continue until we all feel the same I don’t know (it’s happening pretty fast) I thought time was supposed to repeat until 15498 but I don’t know anymore

FFS they got Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody out of the way quick enough (If there was ever a story that could have done with a 2 episode arc this was it) why can’t they deal with this interesting but increasingly annoying storyline quicker? I’m guessing they’ll cite artistic reasons in the end but repetition isn’t necessarily good. (Philip Glass excluded;-)

I don’t see why KyoAni thinks that this trolling of the audience is somehow to the benefit of the series, especially if people are simply going to sit this Endless Eight rubbish out (like myself) until they decide to actually give us something new. If they ever will.
If you read the novels you’ll find out when it ends, and why it needs to take so long. Things like this are what make Haruhi Haruhi, so keep your socks on.
You know, I really couldn’t give a stuff when it ends, because I don’t need a multi-episodic representation of a recurring timeloop, with very little in the way of variation between each episode, in a show that I want to watch. Yes, it shows us Yuki’s boredom and all that rubbish…. because it bores ME. And I have very little tolerance, anymore, with shows that go out of their way to bore me. This whole plot could have been dispensed with by now, but it hasn’t. So as I said, I’m waiting for an actual new episode before I’ll allow my interest to pick up again. In the meantime, there is this thing called an entire new season of shows to keep my interest up. And only just, because most of those shows are rubbish as well….

Just whatched ep 14/S02 EP4, i faced palmed through the whole thing, there was no development what so ever… it was essentially ep 13/3 all over again, at least there was a difference between 12 and 13… christ, if ep 15/5 is EXACTLY the same as 14/4 then im giving up perminantly…
However, in 14, is it just me, or when there disscusing the time loop did Yuki look like she was close to snapping due to the 15499 loops?
This is almost ridiculous. Just watched the fourth part of it…and guess what. Not over yet! The light novel was a fairly short story. I cant believe they would drag this arc on and on and on!
It didn’t end again, but the fact that they have basically followed the novel to the letter means that they are most likely going to make another season after this one if it is popular enough. I think we are all frustrated with it because when this particular sci-fi literature convention is used in Western Literature and Flim, it is usually truncated to avoid the repetitive annoyance. However, it seems from reading the novel, the author wanted us to experience the hell that Yuki must be going through and the director of the anime wanted to convey the same powerful feeling (no matter how annoying it may be, it is still powerful).
Hold out hope. I am sure it will come to an end July 17th with the 5th episode of Endless Eight.

I think the point of all this is just like Anne said. The want to follow this thing to the letter and give you this desperate hopeless feeling. Needless to say, it’s working is it not? There not giving a FU to fans there just trying to do something others wouldn’t. I’m not the type to get easily bored, hell, I got plenty of other anime to watch so I won’t be freaking out if this continues another 2 or 3 eps (pray it doesn’t though). So I applaud them for trying to pull something like this that I have never seen another anime studio do. And think about it. They must be getting sick of it themselves. Look closely, there not rehashing all the animation. From what I can tell. There redrawing and making a new ep of this ever single time just with different clothes and different perspectives. I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to draw the same scenery, object, or characters, several times more than usual, several different ways.
An those of us watching subbers, watching for absolutely FREE, have hardly a right to complain and say were being ripped off. Unless you count your internet bill, but I doubt you use it solely for Haurhi.

Here is the airing schedule. Personally, I love Haruhi but this is getting out of hand. I think we’re supposed to be feeling a small part of what Yuki is feeling but we’re not sentient alien beings so get on with it already or at least put enough new content in each episode for me to care.
