「神器ロストヴェイン」 (Jingi Rosutovuein)
“Sacred Treasure Lostvayne”

I can’t be the only one who expected the Gowther vs Diane fight to last longer, right? The result was pretty much assured, but damn they blasted through it! Which I actually liked, because the fight itself was the least interesting part of it. The real interest was in the aftermath, where we found that not only is Gowther a doll, he’s—well, a doll. I also found his line, his request for pity to Meliodas and the others, to be haunting.

“Lock me up. Somewhere with no one around. Before I stop being myself.”

It’s hard to not feel for him. It seems to me that he does have emotions, deep deep down. He doesn’t want to lose who he is. Which makes it all the more unforgivable, what he did to Guila and Zeal. He stole who they are. I’ll be looking forward to where Gowther goes from here—especially since it’s looking like he’s not entirely gone right now.

Speaking of going more quickly than expected, the battle against Great Beast Albion was similarly over in a hurry. And, to be honest, I’m once again cool with this. Nanatsu no Taizai doesn’t waste time on fights when there wouldn’t be any tension, and where showing a bunch of the action would amount to nothing but fanservice. Here the point was to show off Lostvayne, Meliodas’ Sacred Treasure, and show what it can do. Though what the fight really made me realize is just how imba Merlin is, for utility reasons if nothing else. She wins battles by teleporting pieces around the board. I agree with Slader. Onee-sama!

Though once again, it’s King who has my attention. I appreciated how the fairy adviser so quickly rejected Ban as a potential Fairy King (he’s a human, after all), and asserts that Harlequin is the one fit for the role. This subplot is heading toward a place where King once again takes up his role as Fairy King, but how’s that going to jive with his role as a member of the Sins? I don’t know, but likes I said. He has my attention.

  1. Lostvayne’s ability looks like more trouble for Elizabeth. More copies of Meliodas to grope her.

Being King is suffering as always. Lost his sister, lost his best friend and treated as a traitor by his folks. At least he has a supporter(?) who wants him as the Fairy King. Maybe this attack by the demon will redeem him when he defends everyone in the forest as I doubt Ban can take that down.
