Aisia wakes up in the morning and nothing seems to have changed. Across town, Junichi and Nemu order a pair of matching watches together, and then go home to do their homework. Nemu is surprised when Junichi invites over all of the girls to help. At one point, Nemu wipes Junichi’s hand after he uses it to wipe his mouth, and Tamaki says that they look as if they’re lovers, a statement that silences the room and briefly catches everyone’s attention. The evening meal is going to be curry, but they realize that they have no curry mix, so Nemu and Miharu go out to buy some. At the same time, Junichi gets a phone call saying that the watches are in, so he goes to pick them up. Nemu runs after Junichi right after they part ways on the street because their friends’ comments have been bothering her. Nemu tries to affirm their relationship, but quickly drops the subject.
Back at the Asakura house, Kotori notices that Junichi forgot his wallet, so she runs to the store to bring it to him, arriving just as he discovers that it is missing. On the way home, Miharu starts talking about Akishima-sensei and Nemu being together, and how Junichi is only her brother. However hard Nemu tries to affirm her relationship with Junichi, she just can’t come out and say it. Similarly, Kotori mentions to Junichi that it’s strange that he and Nemu would have the same watches, since they’re siblings. Both Junichi and Nemu are shocked at the brother sister assertion brought on respectively by Kotori and Miharu, but neither can refute it. Meanwhile, Sakura has been occupied at home with a computer game. Behind her, Utamaru notices that the sakura petals are falling once again, and Aisia sees the same thing while she’s walking home. Over dinner, the girls talk only as if Nemu and Junichi were siblings, teasing about Junichi’s girlfriend and Nemu’s boyfriend as if they were completely different things. After everyone is gone, the two wonder why they bought the watches. Junichi then tries to say something about him and Nemu, but trails off.
So it seems that even those two have forgotten that they’re a couple. That’s not what I had imagined when they said changing feelings. And so I don’t think I like where this is going. Most likely they’re pulling Junichi and Nemu apart now so that they can be reunited again by the end of the series. Throw in a few teaspoons about everyone’s happiness and we’re done.
The episode itself has its ups and downs. The animation is very poor at times, but the overall storytelling is pretty good. It’s a bit convenient that they write out Sakura for this episode. Just wait till she finds out what happened…that is if she herself hasn’t also forgotten how it’s supposed to be. In fact, I wonder if Aisia is affected too. Out of everyone, those two are the most likely to still remember and have the most power to do something about it.
With three more episodes to go, I can’t say that I’m too excited. I’ve still got my hopes up that there’s going to be a big plot twist coming, but I think this might be it. Next episode is called 「誓い」 (Oath).
