You remember that show called Over Drive that I briefly mentioned in my Spring 2007 Preview? I wasn’t very attracted to the cycling premise and didn’t think it would be any good. Well, I watched the first episode on a whim and was completely surprised at how un-sports-anime this show was. It was, for all intents and purposes, a show that seemed to be about a boy falling in love with a girl. The animation had its ups and downs, but there was a very quaint atmosphere with light music that I usually attribute to h-game adaptations or romance comedies. The cycling part of the anime didn’t play nearly as big a role as I would have thought. Now granted, I’m sure those sports parts will come out heavily later (note: I don’t plan on watching any more), but for this first episode, Over Drive gave off a completely different feeling.
As for the rest of what aired today, I got some time in during study breaks to watch some of the episodes that aired today. I say study breaks because I’m in the middle of my midterms right now (last one tomorrow), and I used up all my free time today to write up D.Gray-man and DEATH NOTE.
Sisters of Wellber: I had high hopes for this, but the episode turned out merely okay. Nothing really stood out for me, especially not the talking tank.
Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku wo: Surprisingly enough, I managed to get through the entire episode of Over Drive, but I couldn’t make it through 10 minutes of this. Jaalin’s writing up an entry about it though.
Claymore: This had plenty of blood and monsters, but like Wellber, the first episode was just okay. Mentar assures me that the story will get better fairly soon, and I trust him enough to keep watching a few more episodes.
Everything else I didn’t get a chance to see, but at the current moment, I’m leaning heavily towards just keeping D.Gray-man and DEATH NOTE as my two scheduled Tuesday shows.
Claymore will definitely get better. Just put it like the 1st season of Nanoha, which sucked till Fate appeared. Like Claymore, wait till you get to Teresa’s story and after that the story will get better and better.
i’m actually very interested in OverDrive. hopefully it won’t disappoint me when i watch it myself.
Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku wo sounded kinda boring from the start to me xD but i’m interested in seeing how sisters of wellber turns out and claymore too ;3 as for over drive… would rather spend my limit on something else 😡
Awww, Jaalin is doing Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku? I kind of wanted to hear what you had to say about this. I somehow made it through the whole thing, but in small portioning.
I still haven’t had the time to watch Sisters of Wellber yet. I’ll remember not to expect too much from it then.
Kono Aozora ni Yakusoku wo is only interesting if you know the basic game storyline. I’m looking forward to a subbed version of this. However, there is no one who has offered yet.
anyone know when higurashi 2 coming out?
Nothing is liek it seems….
@GStrike
Not till July I believe
Has anyone at all seen Oh! Edo Rocket yet? I’m kind of interested in the show, but no raw’s been posted yet :(.
I need sleeeeeeep…….. =_= sooo tired….
@GStrike
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai isn’t clear until Summer 2007. So that would mean, sometime in July, don’t know what the exact date is yet.
AoYaku (it’s one of the abbreviated forms) has incredibly cheesy storylines. What saved the game was the awesome main character and his cute air-headed childhood friend, Umi, who definitely had the best scenario of all characters, IMO. I wasn’t expecting much from the anime in the first place and I don’t plan to set the expectation higher either. I don’t know what they were thinking when they decided to animate the thing because there are TONS of other worthy anime candidates by the same company *coughDuelSaviorcough*.
On the side note, why do I get a Suzuka vibe from Over Drive? I don’t like it when I get a Suzuka vibe, because I labelled it as one of the worst excuses for romance animes.
Claymore definetely deserves a closer look on it, imo.
lol @ “The first ep was interesting.” “Not gonna watch anymore”.
Such aversion to sports anime. geez. lol
@Omni: Good luck on your exams. I hope you end up enjoying what you see.
can we at least get a blog for the 1st ep of Wellber?
I’m sure it’ll get better. The storywise is interesting.
Hey don´t say sport animes are bad because CAPETA and hajime no ippo were my favorites on sports!!
Over drive is nice in animation but story remembers me of eye shield 21 ….but let´s see Because I always give 10 right episodes to judge an anime!! :D( watashi wa Tensai dakara!!)
Awesome .. first episode of Claymore filled with the whiney / crying high pitched japanese overacting VA ……. good god … totally ruining this show ….
Give claymore a chance plzzzzzzzzzz!! >0
oh god… don’t even think about giving other animes priority over Death Note and D. Gray Man… they’re too good!
For 1st episode, Claymore is my most favorite in this season.
I really looking forward to it. More action is good.
555 I want to see more blood. Hope that its violent is as same as in manga.(or more!)
