Summary:

Dan is getting beat up by the newcomer who’s chucking large basketballs, but he’s unable to tell where his opponent is attacking from. Sela is able to figure this out by watching, however when she attempts to get close, she’s hit with a basketball. Her Bigfoot takes a lot of damage from this, but Sela is actually filled with ecstasy. With both Dan and Sela down, their opponent leaves, and so the two have no choice but return to Miyuki for repairs. As word spreads that Dunk Mask has been defeated again, Sela walks off by herself and has the driver of the other Bigfoot on her mind. She’s looking for someone with strength in their genes, and as she’s thinking about this, she’s approached by a guy she recognizes as Iceman. He is the person who blocked Dan’s slam dunk a year ago, and seeing him reminds her of the guy who had just defeated her. Iceman proves his strength when he easily blocks Sela’s kick, so she questions if he plays street basketball. He responds by saying that street basketball isn’t really basketball, and he claims that she’s mistaken him for someone else. Sela then asks for Iceman’s genes, but he just bids her good night.

The next day, a princess named Flora is visiting the statue commemorating the Dunk Mask event from a year ago when suddenly Iceman attacks and destroys it. The ball used to do the deed has a large red X marked through a drawing of Dunk Mask, and Ganz sees this as a challenge. All this leads to Dan dreaming that Coco gets killed by one of Iceman’s balls, though Dan still doesn’t know that it’s Iceman. Regardless, Sela shows up to help Dan, and Miyuki comes up with a plan to lure their opponent out. After they succeed in doing so and confirm that the person is indeed Iceman, Sela and Dan pursue him. Sela thinks that Iceman has a grudge against Dan, but Iceman claims to just want to crush all street players. The commotion as the three go after whoever has the basketball wakes up half the town and eventually attracts the attention of the police. That puts an end to it for now, but in the aftermath, Dan is approached by a well-endowed woman who had witnessed the entire thing. She introduces herself as Haruka Glacier, a woman from the moon who now wants to make Dan a star.

Iceman turned out to be a bit crazy with his crusade against street players, but it was Sela who really steals the show this week. She’s bordering on the level of masochistic pervert with how worked up she gets from getting hit and meeting strong men (the screencaps don’t reflect it, but she had at least three instances of this). This show sure isn’t pulling any punches in terms of sexually suggestive material, and the introduction of a character with huge bouncing breasts that are as big as her head only reinforces that. It’s certainly a lot more than I expected, though the verdict is still out on if it makes the show more fun or enjoyable.

As for the rest of the episode, there was plenty of Bigfoot Basketball here, including the three-way match towards the end. Satelight’s doing a decent job making it seem interesting and lively, and I really liked the music during that end scene, but I find that Bigfoot Basketball in general just isn’t as exciting as Valkyries or Gundams duking it out, at least not yet. It probably doesn’t help either that a few of the action shots from this episode were already shown in the OP sequence. Here’s to hoping that this isn’t the best that they have to offer.

  1. It’s kinda sucky to see Dan so weak… sure, he’s been locked up for a year, but man, I’m craving some shounen-esque level up on his part. 2 defeats in 2 episodes? =_=

  2. true, but we all know he’s gonna power-up something fierce. whats really sad though is the actual basketball scenes. i ain’t gonna front! live basketball has always been BORING to me “aside from dunks and awesome shots” but it really doesn’t help that the mecha aspect is, and looks kinda lame, and those designs “YUCK” but i’m gonna watch this to the end.
    ALL HAIL BASKETBALL SIZED TITTIES!!!!!

THATs all well and good omni but deep down we both know that any of us (all of us) would settle for a mildly more armoured one of those with a sword in real life! 😛

  4. If there’s any indication whether or not the animation sequences of the Bigfoots will get more exciting it’d have to be when Iceman was throwing the balls in the beginning. We need more fast paced (but smoother) action sequences like that.
