Well, it looks like I got my answer from season one about how Ika handles other sports — not very well. I figured if she can use her tentacles as feet, tentacle-powered legs would be the next best thing. She was a (squid) beast in baseball after all. Also, I call bullshit on elementary school kids being so caring. I say reality is definitely more like this and less like that. Jealous elementary school teachers? We definitely have to revisit that again.

“Isn’t That Cosplaying!?”
Wow, did we seriously not learn the fake Ika Musume girl’s name until now? I could’ve sworn “Ayumi” (Kawasumi Ayako) came up at some point in the first season but I guess not. Anyway, Ayumi in maid cosplay = good; Ika in Queen Ikazabeth coplay = not so good. Nagisa with slicked-back hair? Kind of indifferent to that one except maybe seeing her muster the courage to shoo Ika away. All this cosplaying did leave me wondering how good Ika would look in a proper one. It’d be pretty messed up if she somehow turned out to be a really “hot” squid with the right hair and makeup (and I don’t mean this… anything but that!). I don’t think I’d ever be able to look at her the same way again, so maybe it’s a good thing. We’ll leave the “hotness” to Ayumi, spiked knuckles and all.

“Aren’t You Lighter!?”
Finally some face slapping! Ika’s fin slap to Sanae’s was good, but god damn, Sanae’s to Eiko was pretty money. “I’m sorry, my body didn’t like what you just said.” — end of conversation. I guess the real surprise is explaining how Ika can fly in the opening sequence. Hands up if you knew those bracelets of hers actually did something. I mean, it makes sense that she needs a counterweight, but come on, 0.0005 to 20,000 kilograms? (About 0.0011 to 44,000 lbs for you Americans.) That’s a pretty ridiculous range. She can probably conquer mankind by sitting on everything. The other surprise was Chizuru being really conscious about her weight. I’m sure it’s all super lean muscle anyway. She just has to realize that supersonic hands require insane muscle density. Very cute though. I approve.

Blushing Chizuru is so cute. And those bracelets, they never get used like that in the manga, i’ve read the respective chapter, so i can tell for sure. But it’s an funny addition, none the less.
I SOOOO want those bracelets.
So we’ve got to know what ONE of those bracelets does. And the second one…?
This is a comedy show which knows how to keep things fresh. We’re 15 or so episodes in, and I have to say that I’m impressed with how varied and random the jokes are within the show’s simple context.
…contrasted against Working!!’s second season, which still sticks to the same old running jokes that it used from the first season, with little variety or randomness in comparison. Not that it is poorly executed, but I just can’t feel the freshness that is present in every episode of Ika Musume in the that show…
I’d LOL at Ayumi with knuckledusters. Looking back from now she looks like Moeka.
LOL, Ika Musume can fly. Our logic has become invalid.
LOL. It’s sure illogical she forgot that she can swim but in fact she can fly…
Oh, and i forgot to mention that strawhat Ika is adorable as hell.
Rip ika limbs.
Sanae slapping Eiko was simply priceless.
Also, I’m glad we finally see a human side to Chizuru. Nothing ever really bothered her, and it was starting to get kind of boring, so it’s nice we finally see some change with her character.

Hmmm, is it just me or the animation quality has increased by a lot compare to the last season of Ika Musume?
Anyway, great episodes as always. There isn’t one dull moment for me in each episode of Ika Musume.
Jealousy teacher? Possible. Yea, in reality kids aren’t what they think they are unless you given them something benefiting them.
I didn’t expect that Sanae would have some problems not until now. :p

Chizuru indeed isn’t the type I’d say has trouble maintaining weight, so that was quite a shocker. Almost so much I couldn’t discern whether I found that cute, it was just unexpected.
I don’t think Ika realizes what potential lies in that bracelet.
Also, it’s nice that you address each of the three episode parts separately in your post.
The format is a lot easier to take in.

Fun episode. Must say I enjoyed this one. Though I’m not sure why, I find that more of the jokes seem to miss their mark than in the first season. I didn’t laugh out loud in this episode.
That thought crossed my mind too as I finished the episode. The first season was squidding funny but it’s just getting started. (And a good start too in my opinion, degeso.)
Tsundere Chizuru made my day. That’s like the first time I’ve seen her act like that and I’m looking for more. haha The bracelets make me wonder if they had Ika-chan’s “specs” all laid out in blueprints from the start or if they just kinda have brilliant observations as they go along? lol
I wouldn’t be surprised if it were the latter seeing as the show is such fun.
Bioluminescence I can buy, but changing their weight and flying? What kind of squid can do that?

This show just never gets old! I’m loving it all over again. Chizuru’s blushing made my day. Oh my goodness.
And a side note, I love the op. It’s so cutesy!!
I’m still Amazed at how unconcerned people are as the reach out and touch her tentacles…….SHE’S A SQUID PEOPLE!!! how slimey are those things?!?! does she wash them!?!? and if so, what kind of conditioner does a squid use???

anyone noticed how slightly girlish Takeru sound when he was surprised about Ika Musume being 100 kilos heavy?
I’m gonna take a wild guess and say that’s because he’s voiced by a girl.
