「魔王幼女」 (Maou Youjo)
“Little Demon Lord”

Ahh yeah, the OG crew is back in business. Biscuits; beatings; bodacious brevity; truly the most enlightened times for Isekai Maou of late, and only held back by the knowledge it’s largely a one off. Sure, it’s not like Klem is really needed to deal with whatever threat is up next – but her presence wouldn’t be a problem.

Much as mentioned before, Isekai Maou arguably works best when it plays to its absurdities and this episode proved the point. Although nothing in particular happened and there was no major purpose outside of arc transition (read: filler), it featured a bit of everything that makes this series fun. Fanis for example took care of the usual embarrassment of riches Diablo suffers from, Rose and Edelgard formed the unlikeliest of tag teams, and Klem, well, did what Klem does best. Would be a mistake to think Klem won this round outright though; when you have Edelgard so thoroughly (and adorably) investigating the principles of Newton’s law of gravitation, it’s a victory with plenty of competition.

The real meat and potatoes, however, lay in the teased tidbits for what is coming down the pipeline. As should be no big surprise, the church remains enemy numero uno and whatever mystical magical being they’re trying to bring into existence. The purpose of this? Anyone’s guess, but it’s obviously not good given the church’s elimination of Lumachina is centered around it. Then there’s the matter of that other demon lord which any keen eared watcher will note is not actually what the church is caught up in (at least if one biscuit muncher can be believed). While I heavily doubt these two issues are not intertwined in some capacity, it’s an open question to what specific degree. Is the church acting alone? Is the church acting in response to something? Or is this just the latest attempt at demonic usurpation via honeyed words and promises of salvation? No damn idea, but we’ll find out soon enough.

After all, when it comes to this story it’s only a question of which of the girls stumble into the middle of the enemy’s preparations first.

“The Demon Lord’s orders are absolute.”
        “Refusing them warrants death.”
except for her breast size, which change to fit the need….

  2. This episode was a bit too uninspired for my taste and I’m wondering whether it was actually anime original.

Though seeing Klem and Edelgaard again, it’s weird hearing Atsumi Tanezaki actually voicing the loli instead of the kuudere. Futaba (Bunnygirl Senpai) anyone?
Feels like the end cards (Asanagi ntr fantasy?) are getting lewder from week to week.
