Geeze, I knew you had it in you Isekai Maou, but damn are you ever on a roll of late. Social skill jokes, sexual innuendos, and phrasing aplenty; if there’s something in the water I want it because the only place things can go from here is up. Literally.

I’m a broken record with this already, but Isekai Maou works best when the comedy is front and centre. This episode was case in point, first by throwing everyone’s favourite well-endowed demon lover Alicia back into the thick of things, and then by letting Rose show us what she really is made of. At the core these scenes are blatant ecchi, but there’s a lot of gristle to be had for the humour mill given their pairing with Diablo’s embarrassment and that restrictive labelling. You know after all that nothing is actually going to happen, that things will ultimately turn out PG13 (mostly), but how they do, well, that gives a good dose of temptation and suspense. The only thing which possibly makes it better is the production going into these scenes, especially sound effects, because I cannot be the only one who got a side-ending kick out of popping sockets and squishing elf boobs against glass panes. Whoever the sound engineer is definitely deserves a raise.

As for the less curvaceous plot we too weren’t lacking in fun and games. Probably to no one’s surprise, Lumachina’s hopes and dreams of fixing the church through a Martin Luther-esque manoeuvre wound up failing, though not enough to actually prevent her accessing the church proper. Makes some sense too; we still haven’t seen just what big baddie the church has stored away from prying eyes and Diablo’s weekly excursions are never complete until crushing face with his bag of magical tricks. Also something something setting up the next bit of ecchi to get a hearty chuckle out of. Anyone’s guess just what we’ll discover next week, but I don’t imagine it’ll take this gang too long to deal with.

After all, there’s only two weeks left to go, and this season has yet to feature the complementary beach/hot springs episode!
