「囚われの身になってしまった…」 (Toraware no Mi ni Natte Shimatta…)
“I Was Captured…”

Kidnapping truly is an awful experience. You wake up in an unknown location. You’re fed. You’re pampered. You’re treated likely royalty and adored by the staff who affectionately attend to your every need – wait a damn minute, sure we’re talking about actual kidnapping? Damn rights, because as I think you know by now, anything involving one particular dork winds up defying all expectations.

Much as guessed last week, Katarina’s kidnapping had plenty to do with circumstances out of her control. No real shocker here: the girl is intimately tied to the upper class, is betrothed to a prince, and is far too adorable to leave walking around alone. Sure, there’s some head scratching to be had trying to remember Selena’s – or even Ian’s – place in all these proceedings (Hamefura has never lacked for background characters), but there’s at least a method to the madness and I can get behind these developments. After all, it looks like one particular brother is intent on eliminating two birds with one hefty stone.

As for the Bakarina herself, well, let’s just say the results speak for themselves. Placating the Bakarina with baked goods and romance novels? Letting the Bakarina indulge in a good night’s rest? Spilling your guts to the Bakarina out of envy and respect for her sweet side? If the antagonists weren’t operating off of incomplete information I swear everything this episode was deliberate in its use. Hell, even bringing up Katarina’s relationship with Geordo because oh damn was that ever a perfect indication of just where this girl’s mindset is at 24/7. Intense and passionate love where anything shall be abandoned for its sake? Please, the prince is obviously involved just because he has to be. Move over farming, this girl is now investing in side-busting. The only thing which makes it better is knowing there’s a major (and hilarious) showdown ahead for Mary and Alan, because when the identity of their unrequited love comes out you know full well it’s going to be explosive.

First, however, is getting the dork back into safety, and if there’s one thing you can bet on given the girl involved, it’s that the rescue attempt won’t go entirely to plan.

  1. I wonder what is yhe deal with blue-haired villain, is he on orders from one of the princes, or is he just to bring entire kingdom down in a flurry of princes resigning/disappearing?
Also, King is working hard on sustaining dynasty, heh, so many potential heirs…
