「吸血姫 (ノスフェラトゥ)」 (Nosufueratou)
“Nosferatu”

Although it can often be easy seeing where things are going, it certainly is difficult knowing just what triggers the inevitable fallout as Tsuki to Laika slyly did this week. I think we all knew Lev would snap at some point, that Irina’s predicament would be the cause, but to have it happen right now and for a, well, less serious reasons? Now that’s a surprise. After all, there’s still plenty of this story left to go.

Much as mentioned, the shocker for me this episode wasn’t so much that Lev got into trouble as much as Lev getting into trouble over what has been to date fairly standard treatment. Irina’s status as a test subject is well-known and what she was subjected to this time is comparable to what happened before. I’d think Lev could appreciate the need to keep his emotions in check, but in hindsight the rapidly approaching launch date, Irina’s health and mental concerns, and Lev’s own discovery of what awaits the girl should her reentry fail probably pushed the kid over the edge. Much like Franz with his deliberate (and disappointing) decision to try and either sideline or outright kill Irina in order to delay the mission, the heat of the moment often leads to impulsive actions, ones you can be sure will come back to haunt you eventually.

Building on this point is Irina herself, for while Lev and others agonize over her potential death, she has determinedly double downed in the face of her own fears and concerns. This arguably is what got me about Lev’s actions this time; while Lev worries over whether Irina may die, Irina is more concerned about staying on track and not giving into her fears. The bloodsucking for example was more than simply getting the lovebirds closer to one another, it was also acknowledgement on Irina’s part that her dream is not something she can achieve by herself. Lev’s assistance is necessary to see Irina both get into space and return home, so having Lev react and sideline himself before that point is quite illogical. Nevertheless as mentioned, emotions damn near always get the best of us, and this case is no exception.

It just remains to be seen how big an impact Lev’s outburst will have on Irina’s imminent venture into the dark unknown.

  1. Franz might be United kingdom spy…
I can’t explain his sabotage otherwise.
On the othe rhand, fear not, the sexy and flamboyant aide to the Gensek is probably going to get him out from his cell to witness, and possibly help in , Irina’s spaceflight.

  2. When you care for someone as much as Lev cares Irina it makes sense for him to snap. A bit more build up would have been nice but with anime adaptations running 4 12 episodes a little rushing is to be expected.

  3. Franz’s actions was really unexpected. Originally thought he was fixing it, but then his reaction during the test indicates otherwise. His boss on the other hand, acted just just as expected. Unfortunately. Still, it was fun seeing how quickly his attitude changed once Lev deprived him of his garlic.

I see the chef in the preview. Did we ever get any info on her background? I know it’s a closed town, so not anyone can enter.

  4. The series having stereotypical evil characters doesn’t really help its credibility. Well, as far as you can say that about a plot with vampires lol. Thankfully, it looks like Ludmilla will step in next week.
Considering that the LN is still being published I‘m really curious how the anime will end.
