「試練の迷宮」 (Shiren no Meikyuu)
“Labyrinth of Trials”
I know I keep singing the praises of Eiyuuou week in and week out, but it truly do be deserving all those kudos. Just think, besides the abundant amount of cute and adorable flying about, we also have the satisfaction of knowing said cute and adorable is still arriving next week. Considering how many shows are now delayed or outright postponed, I’m going to take any win I can get. Especially the fun kind.
Given we’re now halfway through the season, I don’t think many would be shocked at seeing Eiyuuou spend some time on effective filler material. It’s basically preparation for the last arc of this season after all, we need to set the stage for the next opponent, the things Inglis and friends must do, and, of course, finally reveal some more regarding the fourth party member in Liselotte. In this regard it’s typical buildup for bigger and better things, so to have yet another week devoted to it is something understandable.
Mind you for all the barely hidden disappointment of another glorified CGDCT episode (only slightly!), we at least weren’t lacking in cute, funny, and foreshadowing. Besides the well-established running joke of gender-bent fantasy Goku – now complete with third party shock and awe – there’s also the nice touches of Inglis showing off her past male life in having no idea why girls be jealous and how that past life is very much becoming a key explanation for current happenings. Not hard for one seeing who (or at least which faction) may have given rise to the Highlanders as a concept, or why Inglis’ patron goddess chose this era to resurrect her into. Couple on the secrets hiding in plain sight as Eris previously alluded to a couple weeks prior and the picture of just what transpired in this world starts getting clearer. Of course we’re still one good reveal away from piecing the puzzle together, but with how much is slyly coming out I don’t think we’re long from this show’s first real twist.
It’s only a question of many new and adorables faces we’ll get before that big moment.

Breaking the fourth wall just isn’t enough for our Inglis, she has to break the fifith and sixth ones too 🙂
Anyway, now that her party is complete, I look forward to great things. Except it’s fairly obvious now that the greatest things of all won’t make it into this season. I’ve no idea how this is doing in Japan so I’m not getting my hopes up too much.
