「天上人襲撃計画」 (Hairandaa Shūgeki Keikaku)
“The Plan to Attack a Highlander”

Hard to believe this season is almost done (the spring preview is only a week or so away, hint hint), but alas it is and so that means climax time across the board. Or as Eiyuuou knows it, punching above your weight and giggling at the outcome. Oh yes, same old same old in full effect, but I’ll be damned if I’m still not enjoying the guilty pleasure simplicity of it all.

Most of the ambiguity of Eiyuuou’s latter half has always been done to lack of tangible threat or enemy. Outside of the monster of the week doing their bit to get Inglis break a sweat we’ve largely been playing slice of life adventuring, which while fun in spots certainly isn’t the end all be all of story progression. That, however, changed slightly this time as we got what looks to be the final fight in these last couple of weeks, with new Highlander (and totally not an Alear wannabe) Ivel who personifies his name to a T. Peasants getting uppity? Make an example. Not getting the desired response? Take it out on an innocent victim. There’s not much to be said about the whole courtly moment which the screenshots themselves don’t describe (the kid is basically a no-name baddie in the end), but at least it came with the benefit of Inglis and Raphi proving why you don’t leave them alone in the pantry. Yes, I assure you, that joke will never get old.

As alluded to though, Ivel is only really the herald for the main showdown on the table: the Bloodchain Brigade. For all the teasing of big giant monsters waiting in the wings (and Ivel’s own skills) this was always the likeliest outcome given how the Brigade’s leader remains an enigma and their relationship with this world’s more immediate past. Inglis after all met her match with Mr. Mask, it’s only fitting we get a round two to further test that power differential and potentially get some more information tidbits to boot. Sure, such stuff may not yield many tangible answers (got to have that cliffhanger in all its “go buy the light novel already” glory), but suffice to say it’ll let our fight obsessed cutie pie do what she does best.

Or, you know, what she hopes her opponent will finally let her do before they succumb to fist to the face.
