What a remarkable episode it was! First and foremost, the dedication MAPPA shows shines through as they meticulously re-animated some of the initial scenes involving Mechamaru, showcasing their unwavering commitment to this project. It’s truly heartening to witness such attention to detail in a weekly airing show, demonstrating the level of care and craftsmanship that goes into Jujutsu Kaisen.

The centerpiece of this episode, the battle between Mechamaru and Mahito, was an exhilarating spectacle. Mechamaru’s secret weapon, a soul-destroying bullet, added a captivating twist to the confrontation, countering Mahito’s ability to morph his soul into virtually anything imaginable. The intensity of the fight gripped viewers from the outset, as Jujutsu Kaisen once again proved its knack for crafting sequences that demand your undivided attention.

The showdown begins with Mechamaru unleashing 2 years’ worth of accumulated cursed energy while piloting the formidable Ultimate Mechamaru. Although Mahito utilizes his transfiguration to evade and regenerate, Mechamaru delivers a devastating cursed energy missile that strikes Mahito and inflicts substantial damage to his soul.

Not only that – we were treated to an Itano circus sequence – as well as a morphing arrangement where Mahito changes into every single type of animal, even though the FPS dropped and the blurry effect was applied, this reviewer still thinks it’s commendable as something like that is not an easy feat!

Just when Mahito appears to gain the upper hand by activating his Domain Expansion, Mechamaru counters with a brilliant maneuver—a Simple Domain, obliterating Mahito’s Domain and seemingly Mahito himself.

But the battle’s outcome takes a shocking turn as Mahito reveals his survival and seizes a vulnerable moment, ultimately ending Mechamaru’s life (allegedly). Meanwhile, amidst these chaotic events, Miwa engages in a heartwarming conversation with “Mechamaru,” expressing her desire to forge deeper connections with everyone.

Fast forward several days to Shibuya on Halloween, and the city becomes ensnared in a mysterious veil, trapping civilians within. A portion of them is inexplicably drawn into the train station, while the rest collectively cry out for the enigmatic Satoru Gojo to come to their rescue. Sorcerer teams stand guard at the veil’s entrances, poised for action if needed, while Gojo himself prepares to venture into this eerie unknown. This episode expertly balances action, character development, and intrigue, leaving us eager for what’s to come in the unfolding narrative.

In closing, this week’s episode of Jujutsu Kaisen treated us to a masterclass in animation and storytelling, reaffirming the unwavering commitment MAPPA  has to this beloved series. The thrilling battle between Mechamaru and Mahito, coupled with unexpected twists and soul-stirring character moments, left us on the edge of our seats.
