「憑依」 (Hyoui)
“Possession”

Well it’s a Railgun climax alright. As if to answer the unspoken question of Dream Ranker going the way of chaos and confusion, this week decided to provide a modicum of sanity by having Misaka do what Misaka does best. Or, you know, just by infusing the latest round of Gekota love with some electromagnetic action. Better rest up boys and girls, the next couple of weeks are going to get wild.

While the Scavengers aren’t the most ubiquitous underground organization in the Indexverse, there’s nothing saying they couldn’t eventually give the likes of ITEM a run for their fanbase money. Leader for example went hilariously all out in the mental roundabouts, all but sealing her fate as yet another baddie who found the wrong protagonist to mess with, only for Misaka to help stave off certain doom because, well, Misaka. Yes, even the enemy is deserving of some wholesome tomboy attention and don’t you deny it. And as for the other Scavenger crew? Not much to really rival Leader’s impromptu acting right now, although I must admit Naru keeps rising up my Indexverse girl rankings with every appearance. What can I say, comedic relief truly has a mind of its own.

On a more serious note though is Doppelganger, and at least we now have a few answers to explain just what the hell is going on. The soul leakage for example has been confirmed to power Doppelganger’s mystical magical wielding of all physical matter, while her goal continues to be eliminating her other half in Ryouko who dares pretend like she’s strong and independent and in need of no metallic replacement. Or, you know, something like that. Given Doppelganger’s musing over when to deal with Misaka it’s not hard guessing the plan is to destroy everything related to her not already imprinted within her—i.e. tied to her soul—because that likely holds the answer for ultimately killing her. After all, if we’re dealing with two souls from one person (technically), who’s not to say the intended solution is merging those souls back together into one body? Frankly it’s all one big unknown at the moment, but not hard thinking Railgun has yet more crazy to throw at us in this eleventh hour.

After all, even Misaka might need a little help dealing with this one.

  1. Rita/Itsuki:–We forgot we had an idiot with us.
    Bakaguya, is that you?

After getting yaoi bait in Uzaki-chan, now it’s yuri bait over here?

F**k yo Square-Cube Law! Also, using that ability to gather all that mass and make it move… I’m guessing it’s similar in concept to how an activated Lambda Driver (and its ability) is required to move a Behemoth Arm Slave move without collapsing. (Yes, that was a Full Metal Panic reference.)

    Other thoughts:
    – Itsuki’s quite the looker with her hair down.
    – I’m getting a “one last job/heist” vibe with the Scavengers when they got that payment(?) from those scientists who hired them to recover the Doppelganger.
    – Opening multiple Pandora’s Boxes and possible city- or world-ending scenarios with unbridled scientific research. Just another evening in Academy City.
    – Misc: Back-to-back watching Uzaki-chan, Shokugeki no Souma and this, while typing commentary in between pauses.

  2. Moshi-Moshi? Academy City Department of Catastrophes?
We have Kaiju event in district…
No, no, we have a level 5 on the case, so no nukes are needed.
Just prepare rebuilding crews for tomorrow..
    Thank you.

  3. Yakumaru sure looks good with her hair down. I can see how she managed to influence those guys. Certainly easier than what Leader had to go through. XD

Kinda wished Leader didn’t wear that mask. Her expressions would have probably been even more hilarious. For all the special effects that happened this episode, her vivid imagination and “negotiation tactics” was the highlight this episode.
At least she managed to get that scientist’s signature.
