「元戦場に架かる橋」 (Moto Senjou ni Kakaru Hashi)
“Bridge Spanning the Original Battlefield”
Episode at a Glance:
Allison, Wil, and Fiona take a trip on the new, luxurious, transcontinental express train that connects Roxche and Sou Beil, after receiving an invitation from Benedict. Somewhere along the middle of the bridge, the train stops in front of an island to allow the passengers to pay their respects to the soldiers that died on this former battleground. There, Allison pays respect to her father, Major Oscar Whittington, who worked for the intelligence bureau during the war and was supposedly killed by his own subordinate to save him from being tortured for information. Later on during the trip, the three of them meet up with Benedict, who despite his new look, is instantly recognized by the army’s Major Fran Stork. When Stork gets a chance to talk to Benedict, he reveals his mission to suck up to an important passenger who’s involved with foreign trade, including supplying the army with artillery. On the train, Wil tells Benedict about a person iwaiting for them at the Sou Beil capital and how he wants to surprise Allison. Continuing on route, the four of them relax for a bit and have an exquisite dinner before calling it a night. While Allison continues to try and make Wil realize her feelings, he’s more excited about going to Sou Beil than anything else.

Impressions:
A somewhat uneventful episode, but from the preview ,it looks like this was the preamble for the next mini chapter of the story. While there was no specific mention of how much time has passed since the last arc, I get the feeling that it’s been a while given how everyone looked a bit taller and older. In addition, Benedict’s beard is real and not merely a disguise. The most interesting revelation this week (for me) was the history of Allison’s father, Oscar Whittington, which made me wonder if this information will come into play in the episodes to come. Other than that, it seems things will pick up more when they get to the Sou Beil capital because of the person Wil spoke of, but not before we go on a wild chase on the train next time.

🙂 aw allison’s starting to flirtttt
Sadly she’ll need to hit Wil over the head for him to notice anything. His denseness knows no bounds when it comes to Allison’s feelings.
They’ve definitely matured, but it’s been 2-3 years and Wil still hasn’t gotten caught on yet? Allison needs to scribe “I Like You” across a big, wooden bat, and then break it across Wil’s head. That probably won’t make Wil suddenly “get it”, but it might just kill him off, which is preferable to just maintaining the status quo. It’s actually quite a turn-off that Allison’s feelings are SO painfully obvious to us yet incommunicable to Wil, that I feel the writers are beating us over the head with it. They change physically, but there seems to be no mental or emotional evolution of the cast.
Well, we all know her feelings, but she has yet to just flat out confess right. So this is just your typical anime “beat around the bush” bit, just when you think she’s just going to clearly say “I like you” or “I love you”, BAM, something gets in the way. I was pretty ticked off a few eps back when she could’ve just said those word but decided to studder till Will passed out from the drug in the tea. Talk about mission failure.
lol @ “mission failure”. XD
Heh, I have a feeling Wil knows, but like Allison he’s also beating around the bush in his own way. Then again, Wil is the prime definition of density in a guy so I might be wrong ~_~; but seriously, how dense can a guy get?
It does seem that Wil is not taking the hint…but in this episode when he was talking with Ben, he mentioned about a surpize. So I am giving him the benefit of a doubt and I’ll give him much credit when he gets Allison to blush.
late but… lol its only been 6 months since the end of War…. and also first arc too place in summer vac. second winter vac. this one is in spring….
