Impressions:
As some people had already suspected, this week’s episode involved Tadashi asking Hikari to pretend to be his girlfriend in order to get out of an arranged marriage set up by his mother, the school director Karino Sumire. Kei on the other hand was conveniently abducted by his father and taken to Shanghai to deal with some business, thus allowing Hikari to even go along with Tadashi’s idea. Despite pretending to be a couple, the two of them actually seemed really suited for one another, much like Ryuu and the others noticed. I guess silly and thickheaded mix well together.
Overall though, I really enjoyed this episode as it was fun to see the fake Tadashi x Hikari pairing move light years beyond the Kei x Hikari one. It was pretty funny how Hikari’s parents thought that she was finally going on a date with Kei, only to quickly realize that their daughter is really dense. Also, it was amusing to see how much Tadashi’s mother traumatized him with bungee jumping threats. My favourite scene though was definitely the one in the coffee shop when Tadashi and Hikari were trying to be more boyfriend/girlfriend-like after seeing another another couple, Maa-kun and Yuki-pon, doing the same thing. “Ta-kun and Hika-pon”. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud there. Speaking of Yuki-pon, she’s actually played by Megumi’s seiyuu, Takagaki Ayahi. I guess they decided to actually have Ayahi do some voice acting in Special A as Megumi basically has zero lines.
Next time, it looks like Kei gets sick and Sui will be around, so the story will probably be focusing on Kei x Hikari again.
Addendum:
The kiss scene between Tadashi and Hikari was unsurprisingly a tease. Tadashi’s mother, Sumire, had asked them to kiss to prove that they were a couple and Hikari was actually going to go through with it, but Tadashi stopped her at the very last moment, saying that it’s something you should only do with the person you love. Sumire on the other hand knew that they were pretending all along and just wanted to see how Tadashi would react to the arranged marriage predicament.

Wow this looks interesting, even if it was fake.
Well I broke down and started to read the manga. And this looks like it’s following it as best it can. I can’t wait for the later stuff to kick in. I just wonder how far it’ll go.
well its fun to read and watch both the manga and anime for special A.
they r trying to not lose track from the manga itself despite some changes in all the episodes. everything is looking good so far i personally like episode 10.
tadashi’s mother looks good :P.
Judging from that screenshot and the lack of mentioning in Divine’s comments, I can assume that “kiss” was just another tease and didn’t happen. But damn, those two do look pretty good together.

Been following the Manga too (gone through 4 volumes) and I like how they’ve been changing bits around to make it unique; in this case the other 4 SA members following Hikari & tadashi around, which wasn’t in the manga (really wanna see how Akira acts).
And of course, looking forward to next week’s episode some great moments then (funny & romantic).

I don’t know how far you are in the manga (actually I forget when it starts), but there are some really great Akira moments coming. I really wanna see how the anime will handle it.

I think at this rate the anime will pass up the translated part of the manga soon, probably by ep15-16. That’s my guess anyways.
you know its pretty crazy since some of the characters’ parents in this series r sumwat … retard ;p… i mean Kei’s dad abducts him for a business meeting-tadashi’s mom made him bunjee jump wen he was a kid ;p i mean what kind of parent wud do dat to his own kid? oh and howcome in one scene Hikari’s wearing a pink mini-skirt and another scene she’s wearing pants?
They wanted to show off her sexy legs in that last scene.

The mini-skirt was actually saved by Hikari’s parents for when she’d go on a date with Kei, but she used it on this pretend date with Tadashi anyway. Tadashi later decided to continue their date in their own way and suggested buying some jeans for Hikari so that they could go riding on his bike to the beach.
I’m enjoying how the anime really pushes the comedy factor. It gives it a different flavor from the manga.

I cannot believe How Desne is Hikari!! Even her parents thought she is a date with Kei.. why she cannot see it !!?
…After watching this, I started watching Special A again after dropping it earlier. And now…I shall stick to it. ;x Bravo to Tadashi! But Hikari’s brute personality is a getting a bit too irritating. Oh well.
in the manga, Hikari is wearing a mini skirt rather than pants ^^
