I’ve always been a firm believer that a good ending can save a series, and a bad ending can ruin an otherwise good one. Thankfully, this was a great finale – the sendoff that the fans and characters deserved.

This was a beautiful episode, but no matter how hard they try, any justification for Reina’s feelings for Taki-sensei just leaves a bad aftertaste.

And that’s how you finish off two thematically linked character arcs. Everyone else, take notes.

Whenever the title of the episode is the name of the series, you know you’re in for something special.

It’s a given with Kyoani, but there really isn’t anything that keeps up with the character art and top-class production values that Hibike! Euphonium offers.

I find it hard to believe that even the staunchest Kyoto Animation hater wouldn’t be impressed by this episode.

“Hesitation Flute”

It’s a pool episode! Except it’s not your typical pool episode, because it’s all about band drama.

“Mid-summer Fanfare”

It’s back, it’s beautiful, and it’s more confident than ever. This double-length premiere sets Hibike! Euphonium apart from the crowd.

“Kakedasu Monaka”

Hibike! Euphonium returns with an appetiser for the second season coming next year, giving Hazuki and her fellow rejects the time to shine.
