Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS – 12 (END)

「智花(キミ)がいるだけで」 (Tomoka (Kimi) ga Iru Dake de)
“Because You’re Here, Tomoka”

After a close game and a tearful conclusion, the unspeakable happened – the girls graduated. They may be middle schoolers now, but this story definitely isn’t over!

Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS – 11

This episode was really, really exciting. It’s close matches between heated rivals like this one that make sports anime so much fun!

Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS – 10

「Wanna Be A Gamemaker」

I haven’t wanted to see an opponent lose this badly in a long time. This girl is insufferable.

Ro-Kyu-Bu SS – 09

「Don’t wanna cry 泣きたくない…」 (Don’t Wanna Kurai Nakitakunai…)
“Don’t Wanna Cry”

A challenge from Masami ends up bringing the girls together like never before. A very heartwarming episode.

Ro-Kyu-Bu SS – 08

「I Wish with You」

This episode featured two different games for the 6th graders, a hard one which turned out like I expected, and another that gave Airi a chance to show how much she’s grown. Also, drunk Tomoka!

Ro-Kyu-Bu SS – 07

「Win, again?」

The foreshadowing was pretty obvious, but that didn’t stop the basketball from being fun. Aoi is a crafty one.

Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS – 06

「葵は勝つ?」 (Aoi wa Katsu?)
“Aoi Wins?”

A trip alone with Subaru should have been a slam dunk for Aoi, but the world is not always so kind to our beleaguered heroine. Fortunately it was hilarious for us!

Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS – 05

「オーバーナイト・せんせ~しょん!」 (Oobaanaito sense ~ shon!)
“Overnight Sensation!”

Tomoka, Airi, and Subaru all grow as players, and a couple of unexpected characters do as well.

Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS – 04

「愚か男(もの)」 (Oroka Otoko (Mono))
“The Stupid Man”

The fifth-graders are all but forgotten this week, which might have annoyed me if they didn’t serve up a basketball-and-romance filled episode full of Tomoka, Airi, and – here’s the surprise – Subaru actually getting to play! I’m glad the latter two are finally getting some spotlight on the court.

Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS – 03

「パラダイム銀河」 (Paradaimu Ginga)
“Paradigm Ginga”

Ginga shifts the paradigm of the game (see what I did there? Ahaha! Sorry, I’ll stop), but not enough to pull off the upset. Now, their new coach on the other hand…

Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS – 02

「フライング決闘!」 (Furaingu Kettou!)
“Flying Match!”

It’s only the second episode, and they’re already giving me more of what I wanted – more basketball!

Ro-Kyu-Bu! SS – 01

「小学生(いのせんと)・わ~るど!」 (Shougakusei (i no sen to) Wa~rudo!)
“Elementary School Students – Wo~rld!”

Cute, cute, way too cute! Also, Subaru is the ultimate gentleman. I want to grow up to be just like him.

Ro-Kyu-Bu! – 06

「鉄板(メタル)マスター」 (Teppan (Metaru) Masutaa)
“Metal Master”

There wasn’t any further explanation as to why Natsuhi is as upset with Maho as he is, suggesting that his frustration does stem the loss in gym time.

Ro-Kyu-Bu! – 05

「ハードに火をつけて」 (Haado ni Hi wo Tsukete)
“Light a Fire Hard”

I don’t think there was any doubt that Takenaka Natsuhi would become more central to the story than as a stepping stone for Tomoka and the others to elevate their game. After all, he provides an outsider’s take on the girls and is quick to call Subaru a lolicon too.
