「天上人が支配する街」 (Hairandaa ga Shihai Suru Machi)
“The Town Ruled by the Highlander”
In the always appropriate words of human entertainment, never expect things to always improve over the last. As Eiyuuou showed this week you cannot always have pure silly lighthearted fun – but don’t think it’s cause for concern anytime soon. Given we’re now set to move into the next arc and more important developments, things certainly are looking interesting. Very.
Considering we’re now a third of the way through this season with some important story details teased along the way, an episode like this largely devoted to confirming some whilst hinting towards others was par the course. Arguably the biggest bit of debate was the nature of the magical disturbance going on and Seilyn’s role in the matter: was the cutie pie fully guilty of whatever transgressions were occurring, or was it all a feint for something else? In the end a bit of both, with Seilyn actually being good yet at the mercy of her superiors (who knew increasing floating living space isn’t an easy task) while the Bloodchain Brigade pulled the old switcheroo for the sake of retribution. Hell if anything the surprise was the Brigade’s leader showing up this early and being on Inglis’ level. Now that’s foreshadowing some serious fun down the line.
Part of the reason for the upcoming fun is the nature of what’s being teased. As suspected for one Inglis’ patron goddess hasn’t exactly disappeared, for if others possess similar abilities only she can bestow in this time period – i.e. aether – then there’s likely something afoot which either directly involves said goddess or her system. Then comes the Highlanders, where they originated, and how they maintain a monopoly over the current order. For such a thematically simple story there’s quite a few moving pieces at work under the surface – not to mention how morally grey each side is – ensuring if only in part that we will not be lacking in interesting happenings anytime soon given what (and who) they all involve.
Plus as we already know in spades, they’re the sort of thing that will keep giving Inglis plenty to do. After all, when you’ve set your life up to beat the living crap out of any notable threat, nothing says satisfaction like having three more lined up. Just have to see how the girl manages it while the new resident mascot makes the most of situation.
End Card
I think it’s the moral greyness of everything that’s one of the main draws for me because it’s just how things are in real life, and that acts as a counterbalance to the totally unrealistic things like a woman who turns into a huge monster and is then shrunk down into a cuddly cleavage bug.
They have not gotten to school yet! Their poor school master! (Really, someone is paying for their absurd meals and it probably is not the girls)
At the monent, it is indeed the girls paying for their food, which is why they ended up taking this job.
Granted, they were paying out of money given to them by their parents for this trip up till now.
