Another two weeks and another new FMA commercial, this time with a lot of scenes from probably the first episode or episodes, including shots of Winry. It also featured the ending song 「嘘」 (Uso) by the group SID which sounds decent, but it’s hard to really tell with just a 15 second clip. I think this commercial may be a bit overshadowed though by the news that much of the cast for this new series is changing from the old one. Ed and Al will still be Paku Romi and Kugimiya Rie, but most of the rest of the cast is different, including the voice actors for Winry (now Takamoto Megumi), Mustang (now Miki Shinichirou), and even Lust (now Inoue Kikuko). Should be interesting to see how that works out.
i mite watch this, since its more manga related =)
Mustang, one of the most awesome characters in the show gets another voice actor 😮 !!! I really wonder if he will be any good 😀
Well considering it’s Miki Shinichirou I’m expecting a good portrayal of Roy 🙂
Isn’t Riza changing VA too? D8 I read somewhere it would be Fumiko Orikasa. I want Michiko Neya back T____T!!
@Furuba
So Riza goes from Seargent Major Melissa Mao to Shirley Fenette?
screw the others, i want my Mustang back :\
Well to be honest, i’m not fully disappointed yet not cheerful…new Mustang, i mean Shin-ichiro Miki is;
* Urahara from Bleach
* Bak from D.Gray-Man
and some more character voices, but the most important one is….
* LOCKON FROM GUNDAM 00
i wonder how this will turn out.

I want Megumi Toyoguchi back.
Anyway, I’m not watching this season.
So now that I know, that the series will be a retelling of the manga plot – can someone please tell me what the story differences are between the 1st series and the manga?
The manga is more action packed, characters tend to be more powerful, and the final villain is different.
Also theirs a lot more recurring characters than the anime, for example their are characters from the nation of Xing, and there are characters from the Fort Briggs.
i’m excited! i don’t want to make any judgements so early on what with the plot/VA/art changes, but i’m curious to see what will happen. why is april so far away? 🙁
song = awesome
“Kikuko Inoue (Aina Sahlin in Gundam: 08th MS Team) as Lust (previously Yuuko Satou, Yoh Asakura in Shaman King)”
I’ll be looking forward to this. She’ll be able to pull off the crazy of my favorite Lust scene in the manga.
@mutio
The plot of the anime and the manga diverged immediately after the first anime’s Greed Arc. Essentially, like Charred Knight said, the manga does have more action, there’s different characters, different villians, etc. Whether or not the plot is better in the manga or in the anime is subjective. At the very least, I found the character development in the manga superior, due to the fact that it actually expands on more than just Ed and Al. Expect a lot of supporting characters to be developed in this season, especially Winry and Riza.
I don’t know, I was rewatching episode 25 of the first anime version and there were already major changes there. There is no Juliet Douglas in the manga but she was already there as of that point in the series. Hell, Lior wasn’t even a desert city nor were the residents of a different race from the rest of Amestris, the changes were there since the very first episode.
I think those that say that they didn’t really diverge until later need to go back and rewatch the anime and reread the manga. As far as the manga goes little details later come back to be major elements. The year in Ed’s pocket watch isn’t even the same!
Personally, I think the first anime series is stronger thematically, with its emphasis on brotherhood and fixing one’s mistakes. But the manga has a more fleshed out world. So I’m about equal on both of them, loving them both. I don’t think I’ll like the new series more than the first, but I don’t think I’ll like it less. It’ll probably be equal!
Not sure about this Isaac character, though, but Arakawa designed him herself, and he’s voiced by Kouchi Yamadera, so I have confidence in his existence.
I can’t wait for the new chapter to come out and see what fate awaits Kimbley.
Oh dude sucks for Edward. He has to grow all over again. His height was given to him then taken right back.
SID is always good =)
@MizAb

Haha, especially since now in the manga, he is finally taller than Winry. What a joke xD.
@Len
Well, plot wise, they were essentially the same up until Greed’s arc, because if I remember correctly, Greed’s arc is where the main antagonist for the anime was finally revealed. But you’re right that some details (including some crucial ones!) were very, very different from the get-go in order to set up to that point in the anime.
FULL METALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Belldandy as Lust? Somehow that fits…
Kenta Miyake (Tsume in Wolf’s Rain) as Scar (previously Ryotaro Okiayu, Trieze Kushrenada in Gundam Wing)
Ok this is the one I don’t like the most. Though Mustang changing also sucks.
Hiroyuki Yoshino (Allelujah Haptism in Gundam 00) as Kimbley (previously Yui Ueda)
Go mofo? Go mofo.
i just hope that it can live up with the high standards that the first Fullmetal Alchemist has set………..
Cool, I can’t wait. And my favourite character, Roy Mustang will get another voice actor… Shinichiro Miki… *dies* I just LOVE his voice… but I can’t imagine it to Roy… I’m really curious, how it will sound… O.o
And… yay for manga! XD I hope the story will be more like it.
The original anime is what got me into Fullmetal, but the manga is the true Fullmetal to me. Glad to see some of the original genius behind the story coming to screen.
That guy towards the end was the guy on the train with the metal arm, right?
I WANT THIS SONG SO ******* MUCH!!!It looks like they are gonna start fresh and stick to the story this time.. I hope but the style looks a lil bit weird
If it is a retelling of the series then new voices probably will be fine. I’m sure some will freak out, but they will get used to it. It’s like when Tsubasa Chronicle was announced. Everyone was upset they couldn’t get the original actors for already animated CLAMP characters. But it was an alternate-universe so it was OKay.
But yeah..Belldandy as Lust?! But she did prove she could play a good evil character in MacrossFrontier.
