「聖騎士長」 (Seikishi-chou)
“Head Paladin”
Well I’ll be, an episode of Isekai Maou which doesn’t immediately devolve into effulgent elf breasts doing the bouncy bouncy while Diablo tries to figure out where it all went wrong. Or at least, that’s what you might expect given the buildup to this arc. Yes, that’s right, it’s serious story time in Isekai Maou – but never fear, because what we’re actually all here for isn’t ever far away.
Although this latest arc has teased a great deal of churchly shenanigans, I must admit I didn’t expect much to actually come of it, but colour me surprised something tangible might indeed be forthcoming. And not entirely vanilla stuff either. While corruption within religious bodies is a well-worn concept in many a fantasy work, having said corruption take place alongside opportunistic rulers certainly spices things up, especially when it’s wholly unclear just which side is more in the wrong. For example just take Lumachina’s paladins, they’re clearly suffering hard in dispensing the usual community services thanks to local ruler Fanis and her heavy taxation, but something tells me better triaging could be done rather than play out the fantasy version of indulgences. Likewise Fanis could very well be your typical greedy leader – or she could have another reason for wringing the church so heavily. Could there be something she’s after that only the church can supply? I think we’ll find out shortly.
As for Diablo and party, well, the results pretty much speak for themselves. Outside of the usual Shera-isms and Diablo reaction faces, it was intriguing seeing Diablo come across two people who could arguably give him a run for his money akin to last season’s Fallen. Sure, don’t actually expect him to lose, but any time the OP machine can be given a challenge is a good day for entertainment. Particularly when such showdowns might be tied directly to exploring Diablo’s personal dungeon and all the accompanying ecchi humour it’ll provide.
We may only be two episodes in, but given the current characters on stage and the plot at work, something tells me what happens next is going to be a riot.
Random Tidbits
Vtubers may still be a niche sort of thing, but cameos like this are certainly helping to broaden the appeal peko.

Alongside fan translator/clipper channels and stream timestampers (for those searching for funny/awesome/quotable moments). And guys like 2ManySnacks who make fan-content out of funny moments/lines/clips of the Vtuber talents. Unsung heroes, the whole lot of them. o7
P.S.: I can hear the BGM and the laugh already…
Oh those already in the rabbit hole know where to look, but there’s quite a few who don’t even know of that whole world yet 😛
Funny thing is, I’m not even watching this anime (I haven’t seen season 1), yet dropped by after seeing that screenshot posted at r/Hololive.
Unfortunately, someone at the production committee apparently didn’t like the insertion of the Pekora lookalike and have released an apology on their official Twitter account.* The lookalike character will be replaced for subsequent broadcasts and future home video releases, so now might be a good time for digital buccaneers to archive that TV episode…
* P.S.: Initially sourced from ANN, decided to link the actual apology on Twitter instead.
Peko!
I’m sorry, but so far this hasn’t really delivered the same tension as
the first season. Different studio / director? Also, the ecchi was closer
to the story-line, now it seems like its added randomly in the episode.
I’ll probably continue with it because “reasons.” But I hope it gets better!
(kinda 😟 that no one here has picked up
I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level — what a
fun relaxing series (after only 1 episode)!
The ecchi sure felt liked it was there to fill a certain quota like in the Healer show in the previous season which it of course was. I honestly don’t remember whether it was better integrated in the story in S1, but if you say that was the case, okay.
Apart from ecchi this episode did feel low budget though which was a bit disappointing.
It might honestly be due to nostalgia and familiarity, I remember the latter half of the first season being similar in feel. Whether or not it improves is anyone’s guess, but I’d be surprised if we get this season suddenly dropping the ecchi for a more serious focus.
As for Slime 300 it’s an unfortunate victim of real-life responsibilities, I would’ve at least intro’d it if my weekends gave me a some additional free time!
imagine nousagis who don’t watch degenerate shows like these see the the cameo and decide to check out what this anime is about…..
It’s like the chuba rabbit hole, only in reverse 😛
I think i give this a try. The Ecchi is okay and the Story here is a mix of Highschool DxD and Overlord
