Jahy-sama wa Kujikenai! – 15

「店長は決められない！」 (Tenchou wa Kimerarenai!)
“The Boss Cannot Decide!”

The fifteenth episode of Jahy-sama wa Kujikenai! has Kyouko settle into her new role as Jahy’s best friend, invading her personal space for every time of the day. But as Jahy is more and more outraged by Kyouko trying to insert herself into her life, she’ll have to learn to have patience with her if she wants to cope with the Dark Lord abandoning her.

A TOUCH OF LUCK

In an unfortunate twist of events, this episode chronicles each facet of Jahy’s life that will now have to deal with Kyouko inserting herself into Jahy’s everyday routine. While it’s nice that Jahy no longer has to deal with having no mana crystals or having to avoid Kyouko, she instead has the reverse problem of not being able to get rid of Kyouko’s presence. With her newfound friendship with Kokoro, Kyouko now has carte blanche to hang out with Jahy whenever she pleases since Kyouko is more excited about playground games than mulling about the park for crystals.

Even if she’s kind of a bother to Jahy, Kyouko’s newfound fortune was a relief to see. She’s been so invested in helping others at her own expense that it inspired her to spend the rest of her time helping herself out too. And through Kyouko’s growth, Jahy also has the chance to gain some emotional maturity as well since she’s able to put aside her animosity to train her more thoroughly about her new job.

FOOD CHORES

There’s also a lot of humor to be had with Kyouko’s naivety and the mistake she made by keeping the Dark Lord instead of Jahy. Namely, the Dark Lord’s penchant to eat Kyouko out of house and home. While she still enjoys helping people out, Kyouko thinking about her own expenses gives her at least one instance where deep down, she is bothered by how miserable it is to have the Dark Lord as a housesitter.

It is a hidden blessing for Jahy, however, to have her heartbroken by the Dark Lord’s gluttonous motivations since it gives her a better opportunity to get what she wants from the Barkeep instead. The episode’s funniest segment has Jahy using a taste-testing task as an opportunity to constantly push the Barkeep to let her eat food that she’d normally never be able to afford on her budget. Under the guise of wanting to reinvent the signature dish the Barkeep wants to implement, Jahy keeps pushing for pricier and pricier meats until Ryou comes in to burst her bubble. It’s a nice try, but at the very least, she finally knows what expensive beef tastes like.
