“The Healer Executes Justice!”
A quiet episode for Kaiyari this week. Blood was spilled, threesome sex was had, and oh yes, best be sure the teasing of further revenge shenanigans was made in full. Was it blatantly over the top? You’re damn rights, but if there was ever a bit of downtime in this show, hilariously enough I dare say this was it.
Much as can be expected from Kaiyari at this point, when Keyaru shows up he’s going to win, and if said victory requires a bit of sacrifice, well, he’s not scared of paying it. Although there’s likely some measure of lesson buried underneath all the exploding bodies here, at face value it’s fairly elementary: Norn is a naughty girl (very naughty) and needs to be put in her place. The villagers? Just the latest unfortunate pawns largely existing to give Keyaru all the reason he needs to go full crazy face. In a more serious story I’d likely be complaining about the superficiality of it all, but this is Kaiyari and I’ll be damned if there’s not some primal urge driving me to see just what our unhealing hero gets up to next. There’s always kudos to be had for any series openly willing to embrace its inner nature.
As for the future, I dare say episode previews give the game away: damn right it’s back to the heroic path of demon slaying. And you know exactly what slaying is on this menu. Considering Kaiyari has more or less slowed down with realizing Keyaru’s revenge against the remaining heroes this certainly makes some sense given the circumstances—i.e. lacking any immediate leads to follow up on—but part of me does hope we find out in full what transpires with the likes of the Bullet and Blade heroes before this season calls it quits. Kaiyari after all is founded on Keyaru finding bigger and better (read: darker and more perverse) ways getting his desired cathartic dopamine rushes; letting up now would only inhibit the show’s overall momentum.
Of course I don’t actually anticipate getting a copout on that given everything else at play in this series, but what is Kaiyari if not a basketful of surprises?

This episode was weak. It really was just a vehicle to let Keyarga mug for the camera. The villains were cartoonishly evil. It had no tension, no drama, no development, no plot, certainly no character… really, everything we saw could have been delivered during a commercial break.
I don’t even know what to say about the back-and-forth dialogue: “Will you surrender now? Do you understand what happens if you don’t” against, “No, do you understand what will happen if I don’t?” — for like ten minutes. Then we get some raw exposition before the pointless but obligatory ending.
I hope this improves.
What exactly did you expect from a deprived show where the “protagonist” threatens to shove a hot poker up a girl’s vagina? This is not FMA
While brutishness is integral to this story, elements such as narrative or dialogue need not be brutal. Regardless of the subject matter, there wasn’t even a story this episode. The creators of the show can do better. It’s not about my expectations (or anyone’s really).
IMO I think the writing is representative of the light novels. Not that it fully excuses the scriptwriters, but I could envision some trouble in turning crap into gold.
Is it ever stated how old any of these characters are? It’s obviously impossible to tell from looks in anime.
Nope, but a good rule of thumb for ambiguous stuff like this is late teens-early twenties. It also helps with keeping events somewhat sane given the light novel/manga penchant for featuring teens in these roles.
Had to lol at those healed (read exploding) soldiers. So edgy.
Funny to see a protagonist that doesn’t care about the threats of his enemies, even if they actually start putting them into action.
Demon lord/girl next?
Looks like the demon lord is up next. Will be interesting to see what Keyara does because I think we’re all waiting to see how how and when he seduces her lol.
