「同じ穴のムジナたち -Y’know what makes a fast driver?-」 (Onaji Ana no Mujina-tachi: Y`know What Makes a Fast Driver?)
“Birds of a Feather -Y’know what makes a fast driver?-“
Overtake! latest episode flips the script as Haruka is now a member of Belsorriso while Satsuki recovers at the hospital. But as it turns out, it isn’t easy to fit into newer roles when everyone hasn’t adjusted to change.
LAUDA FOR EVERYONE IN THE BACK
Haruka’s biggest problem at the moment is that he’s still unable to get used to being a driver for Belsorriso now that he’s been recruited. Having to accept that Kouya won’t be as present in his life anymore is one thing, but now that Koutarou and Belsorriso manager Ena Noritsune were able to get him on the team while Satsuki’s away, there is still much he needs to learn.
He might be quick to reap the benefits of being a part of a more affluent team with access to any resources and amenities money could buy, but it will take some time for Haruka to be comfortable with his new teammates. For instance, the fact that he’s part of a team now means that they’re more prone to being caught off-guard by his aggressive racing style.
While it’s a great fit for solo racing, it gives Toshiki plenty of work to do by having to force Haruka to coordinate with him without throwing off his own performance. It’s the kind of pressure that Satsuki had to contend with, but because he and Toshiki meshed very well, they had a better understanding of each other’s adaptable racing styles as opposed to the mind games that Haruka relies on to maneuver ahead of his opponents.
It’s also a different environment from what he’s used to as he has a better time conversing with Koutarou and his dad about what to do as opposed to feeling put on-the-spot as Ena treats him to high-end savory mille-feuille and laments his inability to save his father. There’s a level of discomfort in Haruka’s exchanges with Belsorriso, especially with Toshiki considering that they were adversaries up till now. Toshiki, to his credit, maintains a professional demeanor and tries buttering him up, but it’s not a feeling that Haruka will ever get used to.
On an optimistic note, Arisu made a wonderful breakthrough in Satsuki’s training regimen as he’s been pulling his hair and pushing himself too hard to get back into the races. So much of his mindset was geared towards relying on luck to get better and be better, but when she redirected his attention from Hunt to Lauda as far as his inspirations go, he came to a greater realization. One that would motivate him to take his time because skill doesn’t just vanish after bad luck.
On Haruka’s end, there is also a hidden clue as to where he’d be able to find Kouya. It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out considering how it appears that Kouya is planning on revisiting where he took his infamous photo. Only time will tell whether he is trying to seek atonement or will try to make amends in a more drastic manner.
