「連休は一緒に遊びたい!」 (Renkyuu wa Issho ni Asobitai!)
“I Want to Hang Out Together Over the Holiday!”

This week’s Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! continues the upward trend of having Sakurai slowly get adjusted to Uzaki so that his concerns become less with trying to get her out of his life and more about making sure he doesn’t end up falling for her. As a result, we have a number of memorable moments in the episode where the two are just hanging out or adventuring to kill time while the coffee shop that Sakurai works at is closed.

The vacation was a good opportunity to get some new laughs out of Uzaki-chan and they definitely pulled it off. This episode had some good segments with fun scenes where Sakurai and Uzaki aim to kill time while he’s on a long work-break such as playing games and going out shopping.

It was great to see more of Ami this time as well because she was hilarious in this episode. She made the scene where Sakurai and Uzaki go shopping for Bluelight glasses very funny with how she ends up playing along with Uzaki’s attempts to get Sakurai to wear silly glasses. Getting Sakurai to look like a stereotypical anime villain is one thing, but when she had him pose with shady glasses without him knowing, it made for some good comedy. On top of that, it was amusing how honest and upfront she was when she described his train mishap as comical to her.

And surprisingly enough, it actually ends on a cute note with Sakurai enjoying his time with Uzaki and not wanting to choke her out. I supposed it attests to the power of Minecraft that it helps unite the two. I haven’t played it, but I’ll have to take their word on it if it got Sakurai to sober up from his usual hate-drunk approach towards Uzaki. Currently playing through P5R and I’m really enjoying going the Ann route this time, but I digress.

It was nice for Sakurai to be a lot more cordial with Uzaki, especially with how much he dotes on her in the episode for helping him come up with things to do while he’s free. She helped him get into playing the discount versions of Pokemon Go and Minecraft so that he can start getting into games that he’d be more inclined to play with her. At the same time, there is a warm lingering feeling that came from Sakurai looking at her fondly as she leaves for the day at the end of the episode. It makes it all the more worth it to see how they’ll develop in later episodes.
