“I’ll Take This For Now”

And here I thought that we’d get to see Seirin finally play some basketball.

Aomine, The Friendly Giant

While he may not be the biggest of the Generation of Miracles, Aomine has definitely grown on me. His overwhelmingly cocky attitude from season one has all but disappeared and in its place appears one of the manliest tsunderes I’ve ever seen. As hard as he might try, he just can’t hide how much he cares about all the people around him. From Momoi to Kagami, he gives where he can even if he doesn’t want to. I mean, how could you not smile a bit when he and Kagami shared a bit of a bro moment?

Shutoku vs Rakuzan

Even though I would have loved to see Seirin play, it was a nice change of pace to see Midorima and Takako back on the court. The pair probably have the most unique style of play and today’s match didn’t waste any time getting straight into the thick of things. If I had one complaint though, it would have to be how the matches not involving Seirin don’t seem to build up as much tension. Sure there’s two teams playing to keep their spot in the Winter Cup but the lack of an intense and drawn out match is starting to grow old. I say that because what really sucks is the feeling that Akashi and his team are going to do something absolutely ridiculous to steal the win from Shutoku. The teams seem fairly matched right now but with Midorima already busting out his trademark move and Akashi barely lifting a finger the pace could shift at any second.

Looking Ahead

It seems like next week’s episode is going to intense! Judging from the preview and foreshadowing we got right before the match started, it looks like Akashi is going to bust out something crazy. Whether it be his trump card or his ability to command his team, it has to be something really impressive to get Kagami to look like this. Either ways, I hope we get some more back story on him than just he’s a good shogi player and seems rather heartless.

‘Till Next Week!

  1. Akashi: I win in everything and everything I say is correct.
Manga version: I, who wins everything, am always right.

God Akashi’s badassness has begun! Satan with Scissors is finally in the game!

Behind Aomine’s rough exterior is a kind heart. He is helping out his new friend.

    1. Technically, Akashi’s hair colour in the manga should be the same as Kagami’s, but they can’t have a clash of colours, so Akashi’s is moderated slightly. Yes, it’s bright.

  2. While I felt like the humor improved in this season, I’m kind of disappointed with the action. It feels like a lot of talking, a few seconds for special moves, flashbacks, and more talking. The games feel incredibly static. So far none of these non-Seirin matches have been on the same level as Kise vs. Aomine. Were they glossed over this fast in the manga? Hopefully the second quarter of this game will be much more interesting.

    1. Well, in the manga none of the other non-Seirin matches were as long as the Kaijou vs Touou match and most of the actions are reserved for the Seirin matches. You’ll be disappointed if you’re not a Seirin supporter.
