「素顔の少女」 (Sugao no Shoujo)
“The True Face Of The Girl”

This was definitely a Kirin-centric episode.

Kirin Toudou

Rank number one and one of the youngest members in our entire cast, Kirin made a pretty big impact with her debut last week. Toss in her asshat of an uncle who’s totally using her for his own needs, and you have a character with enough talking points to fill up an entire post! Luckily, this week decided to focus on the lighter side of things by giving Kirin a chance to live it up with her knight in shining armor. From walking through campus to joining in on his morning training sessions, she quickly got into the groove of things without too much trouble. That said, I would have appreciated some more information about her dad and just why’s she putting up with so much crap from her uncle, but I suppose that can wait for another time.

However, there was something that was bugging me throughout the entire episode — how in the world was she able to get time away from her uncle? Based off of last week’s impressions, it looks like he’s the type of person who’d be micromanaging every aspect of Kirin’s life. Add in statements about how she’s never walked through certain areas of campus without her uncle and it just feels strange how she’s somehow managed to gain so much freedom. Maybe it’s the cynic inside of me, but the whole thing seems fishy.

There are other characters?

With a majority of the episode focused around Kirin, I liked how the show took some time to bring up some older points we haven’t seen in quite a while. Things like Saya and her amazingly straight-faced deadpan personality to the budding romance between Ayato and Julis, I’m glad all these things weren’t just left to disappear in obscurity.

Allekant and Looking Ahead

As we draw closer and closer to the competition and Allekant finally making their move, it finally feels like the story is moving toward its next climax. While it remains to be seen just how devious of a plan Allekant has for the upcoming festa, it looks like they’ll be letting their tech handle the dirty work as they watch from afar.

In any case, I hope to catch you guys next week when we get to find out just where that giant hole on the bridge leads to. Ciao’

Then i take back what i said about the Sword. But still the Sword melee fighter being the Top #1, say many about their fighting skills. They depend on Long Range attacks, ending the fight in a flash. What they do about Enemys that are so fast, that you can not hit with your “slow” range attacks. Once they fire their Weapon, they can no correct the trajectory, or do we have an “special” Bleach Captain?

    1. Think more nanotech, less magic. The core determines the fluid’s shape, otherwise they’re just slime puddles. Not the first time I’ve seen this in SF, but it’ll depend on how impressed the characters are with it. Thinking mad-scientist duo will call it boring.

    2. Honestly, the “dragons” felt “off” to me as well. I think the problem is that the show hasn’t done a sufficient job of world-building. OK, technologically advanced, but how much? As a result things like the “puppets” and “dragons” feel out of nowhere while watching this. It’s not a huge deal/can roll with it, but I think they could have done a better job with the overall setup.

      1. yeah…

first i thought these are Flesh alike colors. but it seems they are real holes there…

Looks like she really like to seduce our MC.. Perhaps she loves this arousing felling to feel alive or like an woman

  1. This episode has a lot of Kirin and I’m not about to complaint about it. Although the official art totally depicted her character falsely when they gave her an angry expression, which gave me a wrong impression on her character. That aside, we seriously need more Saya and especially Claudia, look at that slender body and the holy place that was used to store the badge 😉 Damn Ayato, go for Claudia already :]]]

    1. B-but are we worthy mortals to see more than a glimpse of paradise that is Claudia?

Damn! Short fanservice from Claudia hits all the right marks.

I laugh at how Claudia’s two piece scene with the MC is not being shunned by the viewers while the thigh scene from Cavalry makes some really irritated for what ther consider as ‘distasteful’ fanservice.

      1. mostly because claudia’s fanservice scene is innocuous in how it’s executed…she’s in a bathing suit and that’s it; not to mention the camera never gets super offensive with how it pans over her..it’s all generic fanservice; nothing out of the ordinary

  2. @Takaii: “However, there was something that was bugging me throughout the entire episode — how in the world was she able to get time away from her uncle?”

I was wondering if I was the only one who thought that. That surprised me as well – kept expecting ass**** uncle to show up.

  4. ep 07:

Very good solid Episode, the right step and the right “thank you”. This anime show us their strong points, even if the battle was short. They still need to face reality, called budget. So it is all in balance

No need for spoiler tag, because i try to hold it neutral
