E3 Trailer

Full E3 Trailer from GameTrailers.com

As most of you have probably already heard, Square Enix announced Final Fantasy XIII today. This is the trailer for Final Fantasy XIII that aired this morning on FujiTV’s Mezamashi TV. Actually, Squeenix announced three FF13 games, two of which will be on the Playstation 3 and the third which will be a mobile phone game. The two Playstation 3 games are called Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII and the phone game is called Final Fantasy Agito XIII, the set together is called FABULA NOVA CRYSTALLIS. This morning’s Mezamashi TV covered the trailer from the Final Fantasy XIII game. It’s not in the exact same order as the official trailer that was shown during Squeenix’s or Sony’s press conferences, but all the scenes are there. This trailer of course looks amazing, and I’m very excited about the new battle system. And never mind the fact that it seems that gunblades are making a comeback. I like the music too. As you can tell, I’m very excited about this (much more so about this than anything from the rest of the Sony Press Conference, save for maybe the Metal Gear Solid 4 Trailer). I’ll be watching for news on this game intently. 🙂

  1. Yea, I was pretty impressed by the games, but a little underwhelmed by the new controller (it’s the exact same, except with their “6 degrees” of movement).
And we got to see the Final Fantasy XIII and the Metal Gear Solid 4 Trailers, so it’s all good.

  2. Wow, the sony press conference, was just…. too good. FFXIII trailer looked great. Their final controller design does seem a little underwhelming, they could’ve at least touched it up a little to make it look better, rather than EXACTLY the same.

  3. Dogo, in my defense, the GameSpot article from which I had originally written this entry wasn’t entirely clear…
It’s since been updated with much better wording and I’ve updated the entry.

  4. oh wow~!
    this looks so amazing~
so there are 3 different Final Fantasy XIII games? =O all with different stories and characters?
    x__x
    wow~
So i guess the main character in FFXII is a girl, that’s a good change, haha~
    🙂
this game seems so awsome… haha, although i havn’t palyed FFXII before, i’d say that after watching FFXII trailers and this FFXIII promo, i’d say that this captures my interest way more~

  5. If I may so, the FFXII battle system was absolutely awesome and seeing this is exciting as well. I am, however, disappointed that Nomura is directing and designing. I like Yoshida Akihiko’s stuff (Tactics, Tactics Advance, FFXII, Vagrant Story, etc) more. =[

  6. wait, call me uninformed or slow, but FFXIII? bu-bu-but… FFXII isn’t even out in the US just yet, and now they have a new one?

plus this one really looks awesome.

darn, i’m gonna be broke by the end of this year. XD

  7. So they’re kinda putting the Suikoden III kinda twist on it where you play three storylines in relatively the same world. What I kinda want is not some huge online game like FFXI was, but rather a game where we can fight each other with our characters in FFXIII. Of course there would be problems with lame hackers and cheaters, but I enjoy battling other people instead of some massive multiplayer world.

Nomura has nothing to do with FFXIII except for the Character Designs, Yoshinori Kitase, and Motomu Toriyama are helming FFXIII.

  9. So this is the ‘last’ Final Fantasy? Nice, it’s been dragged on for too long…-_-;

Looks pretty hot, the second batch of screenshots remind me of Halo 2.

‘last’ Final Fantasy? Well, the name suggests the ‘last’ one would have been FFI…
I don’t really see how this series has been dragged on since none of the games really have anything to do with each other other than Cid and chocobos. But, I really don’t think this will be the last one…

If you can’t read Japanese, it implies that this is the end for “FF”.

  12. She clearly has breasts in the 11th screenshot.

I doubt Square-Enix would do another FF MMORPG their current one is ok, but nothing too hot. The environment is too restricting especially for PC gamers compared to many other titles.

The slow motion someone mentioned I would have to believe it is some part of the story that allows the main character to do that.

There are many problems with such a system, hackers and such aside. Everyone would be using the same characters making battles pretty repeditive and dull, even if you allowed some character creation system, a big element of story would be lost, because they wouldn’t be able to tailor the story to your specific character.

I personally really like the main character design, though I hope they can give her different sets of clothes throughout the game that actually fit the scenarios.

  13. Great looking game but I’m still not going to shell out 500+ for a PS3,game, memory card, ect…..

I’ll wait till the price drops to $299 in 2010 but this really makes me consider getting a new system

  14. Mmmm. I’m liking the looks of this game already. It’s darker and grittier something reminding me of FF7. In all honesty I was getting sick of the bright fruity colors, especially since I’m not a big fan of that style in the first place.

  15. I doubt it will be the last FF game, as long as the series makes money for Square Enix, they’ll keep making them…

That aside I just can’t get over how nice the graphics are for this game, I wasn’t planning on getting a PS3 til later, but now I definetly want to get one ASAP.

I probably A) won’t be able to afford one right away (gotta start saving now) B) won’t be able to find one right away cause they’ll be all sold out and C) won’t have incentive to buy one until FF13 comes out (which I doubt will be PS3 launch day).

You are misunderstanding the context of the Japanese sentence here.
It will more accurately state something along the lines of “FF has finally come to this,” not
“this is the end of FF” (n since the announcers of mezamashi tv are commenting and
praising the high visual quality, that makes more sense, wont it? ^^).

  18. What are the chances of this being the actual ‘FINAL’ Final Fantasy if they’ve already managed to make 13 main continuations of Final Fantasy’s as well as a few other spinoffs?

  19. I really wonder what the storyline of this series is going to be~
[basic, basic, real basic storyline reviews]
    [Not sure about FF1-6]
FF7 we had the whole experimenting with people (hojo’s experiments), inserting of Jenova cells and such
FF8 we had the Sorceress ordeal (i think i spelt that correct) and the Schools that help train fighters
FF9 there was the old Western type of stories where there’s the Princess who runs away and gets “kidnapped” and falls in love with the kidnapper
FF10 there was the whole guy goes into the future type of storyline, which was awsome~
FFX-2… that was just… no comment
FF11 not sure, enver played it, but it was the only Final Fantasy that was online~
FF12 had the same old style WEstern storyline with the Princess and Princes and such. Except we had a war going on in this series between 2 nations.

So far, all these Final Fantasy Storylines have been so awsome~ i’m amazed how the developers are even able to think of such things without repeating themselves with their other games~
    haha

sorry if i’ve been rambling on…
    ^^;

    anwyays, graphics are totally amazing~
I wonder how the battles will look thou, and if they really will look like how it is in the promo~
cuz if it is, that is pretty darn sweet~ and must take a loooooonnnngggg time~

haha, once agian, sry for my rambling. i just felt like sharing my thoughts and seeing what toehrs think~
    🙂
