Hirano Aya (the voice of Suzumiya Haruhi) made an appearance on last night’s HEY! HEY! HEY! Music Champ program that’s generating huge buzz across the Japanese blogsphere. After running through the Oricon Top 10, they show a short clip of her performing God knows… before the two hosts, the comedy duo Matsumoto Hitoshi and Hamada Masatoshi, interview her. This was the really hilarious part because the hosts didn’t realize how different her real voice was compared to her singing/acting voice. So of course when she’s talking about how she entered the industry at age 9 and started seiyuu work at age 14, they’re making fun of her voice. You can see her switch to that “mature” voice at 3:58 in the video, which gets the audience going wild. I knew she could do both voices, but to see her switch like that was really cool. And then there was that part at the end where they’re talking about nicknames and she calls Hamada “Ensign Hamatis” and Matsumoto “Captain Matsumotinu.” Anyway, it’s a really fun and hilarious video, and I’d recommend everyone watch it.

OMG…that was really funny…lol….and for those who are really into Hirano Aya, I suggest you check out her other works….like Lumiere in Kiddy Grade. I’ve been following her work since she started coming in to the anime business. For those Haruhi obsessive fans….you should also check out the DVD episode 00 extra…where Aya cosplays as Haruhi 😛

I don’t watch Suzumiya Haruhi, but I wanted to see this video. Its really interesting and funny how that voice comes from her! Very cool!!! Loved it!! 🙂

I think she purposely uses that ‘high-kawaii’ voice when at these shows or when she’s avdertising something, probably to sound more appealing I think
man i love both the songs she song….but isnt it hard to sing with that voice? and she has various other tones she can make……so high…..

Actually KT Kore, a lot of seiyuu talk like that ‘normally’, like Kugimiya Rie who voices Al in Fullmetal Alchemist; TOTALLY high-pitched and un-natural-sounding when she’s in interviews and stuff. 0_0 It is weird, that’s for sure…

Wow! Tokyo Animation basically took her live performance and animated it on haruhi! IT just like watching the Haruhi performance live! Tokyo animation are awesome in so many ways.
after watching that she starts to sound like tamama from “keroro Gunsou”
i think she really made it out.
i watch eyeshield21, and there is an episoide with features her with a 5 minute clip while she is wearing a cheer leader outfit for the Devil Bats.
She sound more natural there, but regardless, she is still cute. She sound so like haruhi then.. haha
She uses her mature voice in Himawari as Shikimi though not quite as deep.

golthin , it’s Kyoto animation , and no , the live performance is recent but Haruhi anime ended production ages ago
so technically , they couldn’t have redone a live performance of Aya into anime , unless its a mock performance in house at kyo-ani

nevermind the last post…i thought the live performance would’ve been on the same day as her interview but it turns out she performed in an earlier episode..now i’m just trying to figure out what day that episode aired…anybody have any idea?

I hope all of you realize that isn’t her real voice.
If you’ve watched some of the other promo shoots of her, you’ll hear her talking to the crew or at others, and she doesn’t speak in a suqeek.
Actually you can find a few clip of her talking in Youtube.com and thus I only heard one where she didn’t use her high voice.
