With October finally here, the new fall season is set to begin with a lot of promising shows including a new Gundam, a new Da Capo, and lots more. As usual, I’ll watch the first episode of most shows within certain parameters (in other words, not the kiddie shows), and what I list here are the chances of me actually blogging something based on my initial impressions from promotional material. However, even if I list the chances for a show as good or guaranteed, it doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll stick with it for more than a few episodes.

By no means does this list reflect every single anime series that is going to be aired, though I did try to be as comprehensive as I could. Check out MOON PHASE for an entire listing, syoboi’s calendar for specific air-times, and AndrewLB’s Fall 2007 Wiki for who’s tentatively subbing what.

Technical Note: All times are given in a 24-hour, relative-day format where times are extended to show which day they belong to. For instance, Friday morning at 1:30AM would become Thursday at 25:30 to show that the episode aired late Thursday night.

Da Capo is back with a sequel set 53 years after the first two series. It’s got a whole new cast of characters who are the descendants of the previous cast, including Junichi’s two granddaughters, but some things stay the same – Suginami’s still around, a Shirakawa is still the school idol, etc. Though the animation production is still being done by Feel, character designs are now being done by Shimazawa Noriko (who also worked on Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru), and it’s scheduled to be only 13 episodes long. Hopefully that’ll be a good thing and they won’t waste any time getting to the story.

From the staff that brought you Gun X Sword comes a story about a high school teacher who has to find five girls to compete in a kendo match so that he can win a year’s worth of free meals through a bet. I thought the concept of five girls doing kendo had potential, but after reading the first volume of the manga, I didn’t find the story to be really exceptional, despite some interesting characters.

This slice-of-life story based on a 4-koma manga is about a girl who enters high school and joins the art club. The promo video for this had a very peaceful piano piece and showed a lot of landscape and sky views, giving me the feeling that this could be similar in style to a series like ARIA. Hal Film Maker is animating this and it’s being supervised by Sato Junichi, so that might not be too far off the mark. Fans of Makino Yui should also note that she plays a role and sings the ending song here too.

If you’ve seen any of Akagi, you should recognize the art of Kaiji since it’s by the same creator Fukumoto Nobuyuki. This is also produced by the same team at Madhouse and will have Akagi’s voice actor playing Kaiji, so I’d think that if you enjoyed that, you’d probably enjoy this. Unlike Akagi’s mahjong though, Kaiji has various types of games and is about a guy who enters into the dangerous world of gambling. I never got a chance to watch Akagi though, and with the large field of other shows on Tuesdays, I suspect that I probably won’t be watching this either.

The title character of this series is a demon who comes to the human world to devour mysteries. Enlisting the help of a girl named Yako whose father was recently murdered, Neuro starts solving mysteries and eating them. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read of the manga, though it’s less because of the murder mysteries and more because of Neuro himself. He’ll be voiced by Koyasu Takehito in the anime while Yako will be voiced by Ueda Kana, and with Madhouse animating the series, this might turn out to be pretty good.

This story takes place in the forgotten Old Tokyo where mysterious incidents that are beyond human understanding are occurring. Challenging these is a boy detective with a special insight power that allows him to understand the whole picture behind them. I was originally considering writing this one off because I could just watch Neuro if I wanted a mystery series, but this show actually has a pretty strong cast – including Sawashiro Miyuki in the main role, Paku Romi and Inoue Marina playing a pair of (male) twins, and Horie Yui too – that might warrant it a look when it airs.

Based on a pen & paper RPG, this series takes place in a world where Wizards with magic are fighting invaders called Emulators. The anime version revolves around a female transfer student who has the power to end the war, and the others at her school. The whole thing looks and sounds a little generic to me, and the PV didn’t impress me that much either, so this isn’t on my priority list.

Blue Drop is the story of two girls: one who is the sole survivor of a mysterious incident where all the people of an island disappeared, and the other who is an alien sent to Earth to do reconnaissance for an invasion. Like the manga it’s based on, the anime looks to have yuri themes (the aliens only have one gender – female), and as it’s been a while since I’ve watched a yuri show, I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out. The animation quality looks like it’ll be really good too, so I’ve got my fingers crossed in hopes that this won’t disappoint.

Myself;Yourself is a new title that’s had a light novel going since earlier this year and has a game for the PS2 coming out in November. The story involves a boy who moves to Tokyo when he’s in the fifth grade and returns back to his old town five years later, but he finds that things have changed, especially the girl who was his first love. It sounds rather average as far as these kinds of stories go, and without a review or word-of-mouth on the game to rely on, I have no idea if this’ll turn out to be any good, but I’m not very impressed by this at first glance.

Mokke is about two special sisters who live in a rural town with their grandfather. The older sister can see spirits while the younger sister is easily haunted by them, and through their grandfather and their own experiences, they learn to respect and co-exist with all the spirits around them. This is a good series for those of you who are folklore buffs since each chapter of the manga deals with a different situation and spirit, and I imagine the anime will take a similar approach. I’ve gotten used to the manga, so the anime adaptation’s character designs look a bit odd to me, but Kawasumi Ayako and Mizuki Nana voicing the two sisters should more than make up for it.

The background here is that, faced with impending doom from a huge asteroid, humanity created a weapon called a Dragonaut after the discovery of a dragon egg under the ocean. That sounds like standard sci-fi/mecha stuff, and the 3-D battle from the preview didn’t really excite me, but the contrast of red and blue between the two lead characters reminds me enough of Romeo and Juliet to think that their romance could be interesting. And unlike the majority of shows this season, Dragonaut is an original concept not based on a manga, game, or novel, though those of you wary of Gonzo productions should probably take note since this is one. It’s also worth mentioning that the three main voice actresses from the Suzumiya Haruhi anime (Hirano Aya, Gotou Yuuko, and Chihara Minori) are in this.

The title character here finds himself – thanks to his own sister – living with a pair of siblings who are incubus and succubus, and it turns out that the succubus is afraid of men, so the main character has been chosen to help her get over it. But that’s not all! The rich and popular student council president is also his live-in maid. The whole succubus aspect sounds like it could have potential, but having not read the light novel that this is based on, I can’t vouch for how good the story is since at first glance it sounds rather haremish.

When the first Shana series ended, most of us were sure there’d be a sequel, and after a year and a half of waiting, it’s finally here. Unlike the second season of Zero no Tsukaima (which had a change of director and writer), the entire first series staff is back for Shana II, so I expect that this will be as good as or better than the original. I’ll need to brush up on my Shana terminology, but this series should turn out to be a lot of fun. The first arc is apparently going to involve an original character from the Shana DS game named Mare.

CLANNAD is easily the most anticipated show of the season for me because of all the great things I’ve heard about the original game coupled with Kyoto’s Animation’s record of beautifully animated and faithful adaptations. Having such a talented cast too – including Nakahara Mai, Kanda Akemi, Kuwashima Houko, Nonaka Ai, Inoue Kikuko, and Noto Mamiko – is just icing on the cake. I’ve been trying my best not to read up on the story before seeing this, so all I’ll say about it here is that it starts with a troubled delinquent whose life changes when he meets the main heroine.

The newest title in the Gundam franchise is about a group that wants to stop war on Earth, and they have (in a bit of an ironic twist) the power of four Gundams piloted by Gundam Meisters. It feels like it’s been way too long since I’ve watched a Gundam series, and since this isn’t taking place in the Cosmic Era, there’s no reason for me not to be excited about it. The promos have thus far shown lots of action, and I look forward to seeing how popular director Mizushima Seiji influences the show. It should be also noted that although this series totals a year’s worth of episodes, half of it is going to be shown in the next two seasons, and the other half will be reserved for a later date. Popular speculation right now is that CODE GEASS will replace Gundam 00 in the spring of 2008 before Gundam 00 comes back in the fall.

ef is a story that starts with a guy who draws shoujo manga who by chance meets a girl on Christmas night as he’s going to his childhood friend’s party. I’m cautiously optimistic about this series because the prologue has some wonderful animation (by SHAFT, though at some points I could have been fooled into thinking it was Kyoto Animation), and I love the music, but preview DVDs aren’t the best judges of what the actual series will be like. It’s 12 episodes long – which I think is a good thing for these kinds of series – and the game this is based on apparently had set pairings, so I don’t think ef will be anything like how people view traditional harem series to be.

As the title implies, Kimikiss is about the protagonist trying to get a kiss from one of the six main girls. The primary reason I’m interested in this show is because it’s being directed by Kasai Kenichi who is probably best known for directing Honey and Clover and Nodame Cantabile. However, as far as I’m aware, he’s never directed a series based on a game like this, and this isn’t airing in the Noitamina programming block like those two series did, so I’m very curious how Kimikiss will turn out.

Based on the popular Korean MMORPG, the plot of the anime adaptation revolves around a boy on a journey to restore a world tree. Replacing Lucky Star in many channels’ lineups is a show based on a light novel about a boy who succeeds his father as the president of a magician employment agency. Though he himself possesses no magical power, he apparently has a legendary demon eye that allows him to see everything. Prism Ark centers on a guy and girl who are training to be knights at a school during a time when war is looming. The predominately female cast – likely due in no small part to the fact that this was developed as an eroge – wield various weapons and magics, and the promo material seems to emphasize the action (including some large mechanical looking weapons called Angels) as well as the romantic relationship between the two main characters. This is a comedy that follows three sisters in high school, middle school, and elementary school who have very different personalities. I’ve read a few chapters of the manga and found it pretty funny, but I worry a little because the director and animation studio working on this – Oota Masahiko and Doumu, respectively – also did Yoake Mae yori Ruri Iro na -Crescent Love- together. The interesting thing is that Minami-ke is scheduled to run for two seasons, and the second season (coming January of next year) is being worked on by the Hosoda Naoto and asread, the combination behind SHUFFLE!. Jyuushin Enbu is originally a manga from the author of Fullmetal Alchemist, Arakawa Hiromu, that takes place in ancient China and has some elements of Chinese folklore. It features a headstrong boy with special powers who embarks on a journey with his sister and his friend to recover a sword that was given to him after his coming of age ceremony but was subsequently stolen. The manga’s still relatively new, so the anime will probably take a different route than the manga like FMA did, but it’s hard to say whether this’ll end up being a good thing or not since it seemed to work out pretty well in that case.

Genshiken 2 continues the story left off from the OVAs from earlier this year, which got into volume 6 of the manga. That leaves plenty of material to work with for these 12 episodes, and I imagine Ogiue will be getting a large part of the focus if they go all the way to the end. I probably won’t blog this since I read through the manga not all that long ago, and the anime thus far has been a pretty faithful adaptation (meaning that there’s a good chance I’d get bored of it), but I might watch it casually just to see how some of the important story points turn out.

Kodomo no Jikan is a controversial series about the lives of three elementary school girls, one of whom has a crush on their male teacher. This series has one of the more interesting concepts of the season, with a first-year college student who is able to see and talk to germs that, as you can see from the image, are portrayed in a fairly cute way. This figures greatly into his life because he’s enrolled in the agriculture department, so things like fermented food and alcohol production come into play. It looks like it could be a fun and maybe even educational series, but with CLANNAD and Shana II on Thursday, odds are low that I’d pick this up.

For those of you familiar with Hikaru no Go, Shion no Ou has some similar qualities, except with the game of shougi instead of go. However, there’s also a deep sense of mystery because the lead girl’s parents are murdered when she’s young. She gets adopted by the professional shougi player next door, and although she turns mute after the incident, she herself is becoming a pro at the beginning of the manga with part of her motivation coming from the fact that she thinks a shougi player killed her parents. The anime adaptation is set to be 12 episodes long, and while the character designs look a bit off to me, I look forward to hearing Kawasumi Ayako as Shion (despite being mute, she does have a few lines here and there).

Being billed as a Production I.G’s 20th anniversary project in collaboration with Shirow Masamune, Ghost Hound has three boys who all experienced trauma in their childhood and have learned a sort of soul escape that lets their spirits enter what’s called the Unseen World. The character designs might look very familiar because they’re done by Oka Mariko of Jigoku Shoujo fame, but more importantly, several members of the staff from Serial Experiments Lain are working on this including the director and writer. Like Moyashimon though, I probably won’t be watching this because of the two other big Thursday shows.

The list above tallies up to 30 series premiering in October, not counting the kiddie shows (stuff like Mameushi-kun and Pururun Shizuku-chan) or any OVAs. Of those, there are four that I’m definitely going to be following (Da Capo II, Shana II, CLANNAD, and Gundam 00) and a few others that I’ve got high hopes for (BLUE DROP, Dragonaut, and ef), but it’s hard to say at this point what will turn out to be really good – that’s what first episodes are for. Jaalin did point out to me that there just don’t seem to be as many comedy series as the previous seasons, but he still expressed interest in Sketchbook, Kodomo no Jikan, Kimikiss, and especially in Ninomiya-kun.

Like last season, I’ve uploaded a torrent with the promotional videos and commercials of many of the shows I’ve just talked about. Included in the pack – 31 files total – are: Bamboo Blade (CM, PV), Blue Drop (PV), CLANNAD (CMx2, OP, ED), Dragonaut (PV), ef (prologue), Genshiken 2 (PV), Ghost Hound (CM, PV), Ninomiya-kun (CM), Gundam 00 (CMx4), Jyuushin Enbu (CM, PV), Neuro (CM), Mokke (PV), Night Wizard (CM, PV), Prism Ark (CM, PV, OP), Rental Magica (CM), Shakugan no Shana (CM, PV), and Sketchbook (CM, PV).

  2. That was a long list for the fall season, but Da Capo II is a must-see for me. KyoAni has never disapointed me before so Clannad looks very promising. As for the rest, I’ll watch them if they prove to be interesting.

  3. Clannad ove Ghost Hound? apples and oranges i guess.

anyways, the Nougami Neuro manga is hilarious, and with Madhouse putting their best resources forward, i could see this being a sleeper hit. i normally avoid post-Tomino Gundam like the plague, but now that i know Seiji Mizushima is directing, i’m actually kind of interested in this. i personally find Genshiken to be hilarious. the same the is doing season 2, so i don’t think it will downhill. oh well.

  4. Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro has been on my list ever since I heard that it was getting an anime adaption, the news that Madhouse was handling it was just icing on the cake. It’s the one manga I do read rather intently and with any luck it won’t fall short of what I expect from it.

And I have a feeling that I may just pick up Moyashimon after all, hearing that it’s on the same day as Clannad and Shana. Mostly because I plan on skipping both of up and just watching them after their original run.

  5. So far what seems interesting to me:

    Kaiji
    Dragonaut-The Resonance-
    Myself;Yourself
    Gundam00
    Rental Magica
    Ghost Hound

Then again…my tastes usually change a few weeks into every new season, so this list will probably change.

    Darklord
  6. I’m definitely looking forward to Gundam 00, Shakugan no Shana II, Ef – A Tale of Memories, and Clannad (the ending song made me really depressed T_T).

For the most part, I’m interested in Dragonaut. However, I’m worried about how the story will go since Maekawa Jun who did the story concept for Dragonaut, also wrote the story concept for Sisters of Wellber. If he had any part in the creation of that talking tank, then it’s a REALLY bad sign D:

I like the Shugo Chara manga and Peach-Pit, but Satelite is doing the animation D: However, the animation in the commercial looked nice, so hopefully that’s a good sign….

Ghost Hound, Kimikiss, Da Capo II, and Blue Drop might turn out well due to directorial roles and animation quality. Also in terms of animation quality, although the commercial didn’t boast this, the animation company for Goshuushou, Ninomiya-kun, is AIC Spirits: a relatively unknown, but excellent production company (they did Girls Bravo and Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho)

Bamboo Blade will probably have very good animation and Hirohashi Ryou(!) is in it, but that’s not enough to actually appreciate a series (the manga didn’t impress me very much) Same goes for Rental Magica with Fukuyama Jun (

    flou
  7. huh? isnt there haruhi in this? NOOOOOOwell shana 2 difinatly is in my list.
ef – a tale of memories
    clannad definatly too
    Myself;Yourself
    BLUE DROP ~Tenshitachi no Gikyoku~
    and mayube Goshuushousama Ninomiya-kun

    connie
  8. Thanks for the listing Omni. Nice to have a single one with just about everything ^^

I think I’ll be checking out all the shows you marked as guaranteed. I’m hoping this latest iteration of Da Capo will be good. I loved the original, but the second one sucked pretty badly imo.

Blue Drop, Ef, and Ghost Hound look interesting enough that I’ll watch them as well unless they end up being crap.

As for others think I’ll give a few of them a glance over the first

    kiryuu
  9. For what I’m surely following:

    1) CLANNAD — Number 1, I love KEY games and I’ve heard a lot of praise for this, I could care less if KyoAni was animating it, that just means it’s gonna be beautiful.

    2) Shakugan no Shana II — It’s Shana, what do you expect me to say. To tell the truth though, Shana was under my radar till I heard about a season 2 and thought I should pick it up.

    3) Mobile Suit Gundam 00 — I skipped out on SEED and SEED Destiny entirely, so I’m majorly lacking some Gundam.

    4) Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro — I’ve heard a lot of praise for this also.

Animes I’m interested in, but not sure of yet:

    Rental Magica
    Goshuushousama Ninomiya-kun
    Sketchbook ~full color’s~
    Kodomo no Jikan

    Kyouji
  10. Yay, I am happy for Neuro, I always wanted a anime for it, along with Jaguar. Well at lest Jaguar is getting a live action movie.

Kodomo no Jikan-if good as the manga then I will watch.
Genshiken 2-Even if I have the manga, I still want to see the animated form
Shakugan no Shana II-I have the manga, the anime, the novel, so its a must watch.
Ninomiya-kun-I will give it the standard 3-5 episodes to prove itself. It may be good(may)
Negima! Drama-I love the manga, the two anime …ok. I hope the Drama will be good.
CLANNAD-Kanon was great, Air was meh, so I will see where this falls.

Of course I will watch a few others.

    The dark prince
  11. Interesting lineup, not too much that immeadiatly stands out, but plenty that have the potential to turn out great.

Shana 2- Definately following ’cause I’ve been waiting so long for it.

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro- I didn’t know they were making an anime of this! The manga came to my attention a while ago, but I couldn’t find much of it to read. I have to at least check this one, always liked Neuro (and well, any deranged psychopath-type).

Negima Drama- Oh dear god why are they so obsessed with turning a great manga series into so many crappy TV shows!?

Shugo Chara, Dragonaut, Ghost Hound and Bamboo Blade are all oens I’ll have to keep an eye out, hope their potential gets realized.

    Tryptomine
  12. Sorry my bad. Maple is on the list.

This season lacks some Yuri show. Also Gundam 00 will be my first Gundam, so I hope I won’t be disappointed (lol at 4 ‘meisters’, sounds like Ma*-Oto**).

Not sure if I want to watch Kodomo no Jikan (although I like the manga) since it’s directed by a so-so director. A Clannad is a must since I watch everything by KyoAni. Shana 2 as well.

    AvexMode
  13. This Fall season is a letdown. Compared to the Spring/Summer line up of Gurren Lagann, School Days, Claymore, Romeo x Juliet, Darker than Black, Yamada Tarou, and Lucky Star, this is a big letdown.
There is some consolation in Shana 2 though ^^

    ShiningNinja
  14. Looks like I’ll be back in the chasing of Gundam series again. =P

I didn’t really enjoy D.C’s ending for the first one, but I’ll be catching on to the second to see how it goes about. Aside from that, Rental Magica has got my attention. Aside from the guaranteed ones I’ll be watching as well (Clannad, Shakugan no Shana Second. Gundam 00), maybe I’ll get one or two more, with shows like ef or Myself; Yourself.

    Owaranai Destiny
  15. Well, other than shows like Gundam 00, DCII, Clannad, Blue Drop, and Shakugan no Shana 2, which are shows that I’m definitely going to watch, there are other shows that I’m kinda looking forward to:

Rental Magica seems fairly interesting and I would probably watch the first few shows to see if it has a standing plot. Same with Dragonaut, Suteki, Majin, and Prism Ark.

Kodomo no Jikan – I would like to see it just to see what the fuss is all about.

Bamboo Blade – probably just the first episode since it doesn’t seem to have an interesting plot.

Maybe I should just watch them all if I have time.

By the way, is it just me, or does it seem there aren’t that many intriguing shows this season. It seemed that there wasn’t any shows this season that were receiving a lot of hype. Or maybe I was just too preoccupied with Code Geass and is disappointed that it’s not continuing this year.

    Final
  16. According to Gundam HQ they planned to split into 2 Seasons. The first Season will start up to 25 episode in 2008. And Season 2 will start on late 2008 or 2009.

I think they set asside for CodeGeass 2

    This information is 50% probability

  17. Well, I’m pretty much guaranteed to watch Bamboo Blade. The characters are actually quite likable (especially Tamaki) and the manga does get more interesting as the team is assembled.

As a side note, I’d consider this part of the very small Shounen-shoujo hybrid genre. After a few chapters the teacher becomes a side character, and the story mostly focuses on the girls.

    Wererat42
  18. D.C – ….. I already had more than my fill of it personally
it wasn’t exactly great either the whole aspect
of a magical sakura tree was just to bizarre for my
taste but it had me going for a while i guess

Bamboo Blade – I read the manga version of it
    the characters we’re interesting i guess…
a girl that smokes, 2 hyperactive one, one
chibi chick with a stone expression but she’s
a otaku and a type of kendo god..

Sketchbook – Well according to the title it’s about
art. I was hoping for a more Canvas2 theme personally
but if you’ve seen them you’ll know what i’m talking about.

Kaiji – People say not judge a book by its cover I tell
them to shut the fuck up if I can’t enjoy the character
design i can’t enjoy the series.

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro – I might watch the first few eps..
according to what omni says it doesnt so half bad.

Suteki Tantei Labyrinth – a detective with superpowers..
    that’s really new ain’t it

Night Wizard The Animation – This series reminds of
tokyo majin or w/e it’s called and i’m not going to enjoy it

Blue Drop – I’m going to watch because
    1. Yuri
    2.Animation quality looks good

Myself;Yourself – some of the girls remind of sky girls..
    ok well…….. futakoi anyone?

Mokke – Well I haven’t read the manga of it so i’ll say that
the character design looks okay as far as looks go. But
Kawasumi Ayako (Saber-Fate/Stay Night) seems to be in it
so i’ll give it a shot just for her.

Dragonaut -The Resonance- I’m going to be watching this
because I regret not watching gurren lagann sooner
as you know the show started with very little expectation
    but it’ll probably no.1 or 2 i have a hard time choosing
between gurren and code geass xD but dragonaut is the same
in a way a mecha that didn’t really get my attention
    just for that xDD ahaha

Mahou Sensei Negima! Drama – 3 words Ah Hell No!
negi sensei~~~ from what i remember the girls transform?
i might watch it just for a hoot a or two xDD

Goshuushousama Ninomiya-kun – presidents the maid?
Kaichou wa maid sama for you. I’ll watch it just in
case it’s anything like that and no maid fetih for me…

Taiho Shichauzo Full Throttle – Is this a remake?
I didn’t really like the first one so… no i’m not
    goign to watch it.

SHakugan No Shana II – i watched this series mostly for
it’s awesome opening but the plot was too serious i think
for the little kiddish cartoon character design but
it was decent so i’ll give it a shot

CLANNAD – is the highest thing on my to do list
    i’m a big kannon/air fan and i’m hoping this’ll be
    a tear jerker as well

    Shugo Chara! – eggs? yea…. no…

Gundam 00 – I’m a huge gundam fan but the characters
look a little weird for my taste though.. but i’ll
watch it because it’s a gundam

ef – a tale of memories – is a must on my list
just because the character design reminds me of
    OkuBoku

Kimikiss pure rouge – i’m curious about it so i might
    give it a run

Maple Story – ahaha ….. what?
seriously… a korean mmorpg about going around an
island with no fucking end… is being turn into a
anime.. and it’s taking Gurren Laganns time slot?
    WHAT THE HELL!?!?!

Rental Magica – fromthe title i keep thinking a
renting agency xDD it’ll be pretty nice i think

Prism Ark – ok first this show airs RIGHT AFTER
rental magica so keep in mind omni would probably
one do one of the 2 but this show seems to have
more of an response so i guess prism ark it is :/

Minami-ke – looks like a fun anime xD one of the
girl looks like a cat wth..

Jyuushin ENbu -Hero Tales- .. pass

Genshiken 2 – YEA!!!! i loved the first one xD
just because i could understand most of the
otaku things they said which is one of the reasons
i liked Konata from Lucky Star

Kodomo No Jikan – the manga looked pretty fun
    but the characters look scary…

    Moyashimon – -.- germs talking to a person…
    what a waste of a time slot…

Shinon no Ou – shougi?…. maybe a hikaru no go?
    of shougi…. maybe not

Ghost Hound – jigoku shoujo? that series looked
to scary for me so i’ll probably stay away
    from this as well

Let’s see the shows that are ending…
Gurren Lagann, Darker than Black, School Days, Claymore, Romeo x Juliet,
Heroic Age, Seto no Hanyome, Seirei no Moribito, Lovely Complex, Lucky Star,
    and Kaze No Stigma
these are all shows that i we’re watching but they’re all ending of course
making room for the fall season… and in the fall i’ll be looking foward to
    Clannad and Gundam 00

now to wait for code geass season 2…

    Hei
  19. “The newest title in the Gundam franchise is about a group that wants to stop war on Earth, and they have (in a bit of an ironic twist) the power of four Gundams piloted by Gundam Meisters.”

BUHAHHAHAHAHAHAH Gundam Meisters. In order to turn them on, they have to say ‘materialize’, oh, that would be epic.

    anamatics
  20. Anyone going for Dragonout, ef, and Blue Drop other than me? (No need to include CLANNAD and Shana II since it’s already a must) Note: Dragonout actually has allthe main cast in Suzumiya which means +Daisuke Ono and Tomokazu Sugita (and also Mizuki Nana and Chiba Saeko nice :D)

    setsuke
  21. Da Capo….been meaning to watch the first season…
Clannad, expecting another good show by kyoani 🙂
Gundam 00, I pray it won,t be a disaster like Seed Destiny
As for the rest, will see how the first few eps hold up

And I was hoping for Code Geass or School Rumble XD

    and oh yeah, Negima lol

    khalis
  22. I’ll defintely (unless they disappoint me greatly in their first few episodes):
    SHANA II- duh!
Prism Ark – I’m a big fan of the game, though its sad that they chose Priecia as main heroine… Karin or True Route would’ve been better… oh well.
Kodomo no Jikan – Kinda a surprise for me as usually loli = turnoff for me (but then, both Shana and Nanoha managed to overcome that easily), but after I watched the OVA and then read the manga, I’m sure that if they do it right this will be great. If they screw up, it will go the way of moetan…

Maybe (first few eps are on my to-watch list, then I’ll decide):
    Bam,boo Blade – Kendo+interesting concept
    Blue Drop
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuru – Riddleeating demons anyone?
Suteki Tantei Labyrinth – will either be win or massive fail…
Night Wizard – I hope this will be better than the last few RPG conversions
    Myself, Yourself
Clannad – Another Key KyoAni anime, gotta catch them all I guess…
ef – never got around to play the game
    Rental Magica
    Shion no Ou

    Gloranor
  23. Damn it! I just use a notepad and note down the series that I’ll most probably watch and it looks like I’ll be watching almost everything on that list! Damn….looks like its going to be another few months of sleepless nights for me…..

    dward
  24. Only Ghost Hound really interests me. I hope it won’t turn out as bad as Blood+.

Also, from the screen shot, I think I’ll check out Moyashimon. I also like the Kodomo no Jikan manga so maybe I’ll check out the anime a bit. It’s actually quite funny and isn’t as controversial as people make it out to be.

Omni, as usual your choices are pretty lame in my book, especially the ‘guaranteed’ ones. You really seem to like cheese!

This past year has been a disappointing one for anime, IMHO. There have been some good movies/OVAs like Paprika, Byosoku 5cm, Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo and TekkonKinkreet, but in terms of series, the only ones I really like/liked are Denno Coil, Shigurui, Red Garden and Ookiku Furikabutte. Bokurano is a notable mention as well, but not great.

Most people favourite, School Days is an insult to my intelligence I feel.

    Lithium17
  25. D.C.II ~Da Capo II~, Sketchbook, BLUE DROP ~Tenshitachi no Gikyoku~, Kimikiss pure rouge, ef – a tale of memories, Goshuushousama Ninomiya-kun and Shakugan no Shana Season2 and of course Clannad.
Think 8 series is also the max I can do now that my studies start. Basically it is 1 episode a day, at least I should have that free time left~

I’d also like to mention that No Name Losers which are retired now unfortunately have translated the EF Demo and Promotion Disk!

  26. Okay, let’s see..

Neuro – This is a must to me!
    Gundam 00 – is okay.
shugo chara – i’ve read the manga, so yeah, I’ll be watching this one too.
    Dragonaut – look interesting.
Clannad – everyone talk about this one so i’ try this.
You’re Under Arrest – it’s been years since i watch the previous season, and i’ll try this one.
Rental Magica – will try this one too.

    whitelite
  27. I Watch…

    Bamboo Blade
    Shakugan no Shana II
    BLUE DROP ~Tenshitachi no Gikyoku~
    Myself;Yourself
    Dragonaut -The Resonance-
    Goshuushousama Ninomiya-kun
    CLANNAD
    Mobile Suit Gundam 00
ef – a tale of memories
    Prism Ark
    Minami-ke
    Genshiken 2
    Kodomo no Jikan

    Ufa!!!!. It finished

    Rika-chan
  28. Maybe will try:
    Dragonaut The Resonance
    Mobile Suit Gundam 00

    Will Surely Try:
Reideen (2007) (Expecting something like bokurano from this remake)
Juushin Enbu: Hero Tales (The fact that the story comes from author of my fav. manga >.>)
Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations (Been waiting for this for about four months already, thought on how these scenes animated would look for about two years already)
Strait Jacket (Seems good, the picture interested me enough.)
Kara no Kyoukai (The story set in same world as Tsukihime and FSN

    Unknown Voice
  29. Kodomo no jikan
    shana II
    Goshuushousama ninomiya kun

Clannad is a nice show, but it seems to like the story is like air, kanon or maybe even Da Capo

Cmon why gundam is it bcuz it’s the only 1 that has a better robot story compared to the other robot anime series coming this season. F&*$ i’m sick and tired of the gundam coming every once in 2-3 years can’t bandai get over the mobile suit franchise ever!

    f(_)ck
  30. Suteki Tantei Labyrinth: BOY DETECTIVE.
Night Wizard: GUY W/ SWORD & HAREM.
    Rental Magica: PIMP MY MAGISTER.
Shinreigari/Ghost Hound: Shirow Masamune finally getting off the GitS crackpipe.

Every other show: MASSIVE POTENTIAL NOT-EVEN-HILARIOUS FAIL.

    Tyrenol
  31. My picks out of that list:

    Definite:
    Da Capo II
    Shana S2
Clannad TV (Tomoyo and Nagisa. Yay!)
ef -a tale of memories (most likely subbing this. Playing the game currently)

    Interested in checking out:

    Sketchbook
    Myself;Yourself
    Mokke
    Ninomiya-kun
    Kimikiss
    Prism Ark
    Night Wizard
    Rental Magica
    Minami-ke
    Kodomo no Jikan

On Da Capo II, have good expectations for that one. Feel has been on a roll recently with Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru and Nagasarete Airantou. Interesting that Yui Horie is voicing one of the Asakura girls this time instead of Shirakawa.

  32. I’ll definitely watch:

Sketchbook – I love animes adapted from 4-koma manga
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro – seeing that this is from a shonen jump manga, shld be good.
Dragonaut – incredible cast and the animation looks decent
    Gundam 00 – I never miss a gundam series
Ef – the animation looks awesome
Prism ark – Chicks with swords, definitely gotta watch this
Minami-ke – Need more comedy this season, and i hope this is good.

    I’ll consider watching
Bamboo Blade – reminds me of my kendo lessons…
Blue Drop – i;m not a fan of yuri type anime, but the animation looks good.
Ninomiya-kun – another harem anime, the succubus/incubus chars lookSha interesting.
Shakugan no shana – I didn’t watch the first season but this series seem to have lots of positive feedback, might try watching it.
Clannad – Lots of romance anime this season, might watch this one as well.

Shakungan no shana = I didn’t watch the first season but there had been lots of praises for

    Andri
  33. @TTT
“not only that… the 2 main guys of suzumiya haruhi is also doing Dragonaut…
A full SOS dan meeting imo”

    Yes.
Ono Daisuke (Koizumi) as Jin Kamishina (Hero)
Chihara Minori (Yuki) as Toa (Heroine)
    Goto Yuko (Mikuru) as Makina
    Sugita Tomokazu (Kyon) as Howlingstar
    Hirano Aya (Haruhi) as Garnet

  34. KimiKiss the game itself is great, even i`ll grant it the best koi slg since tokimeki 1&2.And the CVs are including koshimizu, noto, kawasumi.I`m sure the anime `ll be a big surprise in the fall.

    Spieler
  35. Looks like a decent line-up this season well except for the horror show Live Action Negima!

Da Capo II – I’ve haven’t even seen the 1st season yet. The animation looks very good and i hear the story line is very good also. I approve of this being blogged.

Bamboo Blade – Coming up next on ESPN Woman’s Professional – OK LET’S DO SOMETHING ELSE! No to this anime.

Sketchbook full color’s – Look interesting. I’m willing to see how the 1st episode goes for this series.

    Kaiji – no

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro – no

Suteki Tantei Labyrinth – Conan ripoff! no.

Night Wizard The ANIMATION – no. Looks like a rip-off of 12 Kingdoms.

BLUE DROP Tenshitachi no Gikyoku – HELL YES!

Myself;Yourself – After School Days i bet everyone here is willing to see a nice ending to an anime series again.

Mokke – nice look animation style. But I will have to say no to this. Story just seems like an animated version of Ghost Whisperer.

Dragonaut -The Resonance- Have to watch the 1st episode before i make my decision about this one.

Mahou Sensei Negima! Drama – HELL NO!!! After Negima!? I can’t see how anything could get any worse…. this just might do it though.

Goshuushousama Ninomiya-kun – girls with pointy tail never peeked my interest. no.

Taiho Shichauzo Full Throttle – never even seen the other 2 seasons. no.

Shakugan no Shana II – looks nice but I’d have to see the 1st episode 1st.

    CLANNAD – yes.

Shugo Chara! – i love magic girls but this seems ridiculous. no

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 – I hope you realize this is supposed to be a Yoai Gundam Series…. no.

ef – a tale of memories – have to watch the 1st episode 1st.

Kimikiss pure rouge – animation look familiar. Maybe I’ll give this a try.

    Maple Story – NO

    Rental Magica – no.

Prism Ark – Negima meets Nanoha. no.

    Minami-ke – looks cute. I’ll give it a try.

Jyuushin Enbu -HERO TALES- – no.

    Genshiken 2 – no.

Kodomo no Jikan – YES YES YES YES YES!

    Moyashimon – WTF!? HELL NO!!

    Shion no Ou – no.

    Shinreigari/Ghost Hound – no.

well i hope this helps for which animes you’ll blog!

    Hudson
  36. Bamboo Blade as a manga, and i’m going to assume the anime as well, is probably more amusing to those that’ve actually practiced or do practice kendo. because while things are obviously comedic and over the top, core of the characters and some of the stuff your see (in the manga at least, anime only came out today and i haven’t watched it yet) you actually tend to experience in kendo at some point or another giving it a sort of “heh, i’ve been there” dimension of amusement.

  37. can’t wait for ‘Kodomo no Jikan’

I forgot what is it like to wait for a really good anime, but I remembered it after seeing an OVA of KnJ. I’m all fired up for this!

Very good drawing, one of the top character setup with psychological and psychosocial development of characters (and their personal and family problems) and on top of everything it seems that everyone are VIRGINS (not only students but also teachers shown as failures at life)

I read the manga and I was surprised how deep storyline is.
It would make best drama ever with some funny moments, sad moments, etc.
seems very balanced, but later it gets more sad.

Manga has some ecchi moments from time to time but Kokonoe is teasing her teacher because of his reaction. Read manga chapter 21 before calling it lolicon will ya! (sudden and big change of the story) otherwise you won’t understand what is it all about.
Quote=Kokonoe (to her teacher [Daisuke Aoki])
‘The truth is that… You see me as a woman, don’t you?

Anime has excellent voice acting, it just smashed me out. Especially Kitamura Eri. I think that she gives everything she has to her character (not just voice but also her emotions [soul?]).

I’m also waiting for ‘Genshiken 2’, ‘Clannad’, ‘ef’ and ‘Minami-ke’.

    fake
  38. i think ill get bored of gundam if they use their standard plot formula all over again
Mahou Drama looks hilarious after seeing the trailer

Kaiji looks interesting since a lot of people at sub group forums are apparently asking for it

other than that ill try some of the other ones listed if they seem remotly interesting according to my standards

    ASDAS #>)
  39. It’s a bit early, but here are my favorite shows of the year

Spring: Claymore, what a great show! The ending was decent, but the rest was awesome!

Summer: Moetan, even I’m suprised about this choice. As soon as I saw episode 10, I finished the entire series.

I’ll most likely pick 2 shows. Ninomiya-kun, Da Capo II, Myself; Yourself, Kimikiss, and Kodomo no Jikan seem the most promising.

    Dm
  40. personally i will definitely watch D.C.II~ Da Capo II and Shakugan no Shana 2, as for the rest i will watch their first episodes to decide but prism ark and clannad looks promising…lolx

    Shirou
  41. Yay! URUSAI URUSAI URUSAI, All the way with Shakugan no Shana 2…and I’ll watch Clannad, EF, Da Capo…man they could of made Maple Story look cool. Could of made the main char a blue haried dude as an assassin…but the anime looks like crap…

    Terry-Kun
  42. Huge LOL at the Negima drama’s appearance on this list. XD

Thanks for the fall preview, as always. There’s a whole bunch of series I’m looking forward to: Clannad, Shana II, Genshiken 2, Da Capo II, ef, Blue Drop, Mokke, Minami-ke, Sketchbook and possibly Myself; Yourself, Rental Magic, Kimikiss, and Bamboo Blade. I’ve never had a season where I’ve wanted to watch so many series! ^^

  43. ironically enough, I look forward most to Gundam 00 … and yet I rather dislike mecha (the only exception being Gundam Seed/Destiny which I liked a lot). I guess I’ll be watching some 5 series of these… well first episodes at any rate. But I don’t really have high hopes. We’ll see though… right now I’m only enjoying Dennou Coil. Pity subs are so slow…

  44. Shakugan no Shana II & movie when it comes out(guaranteed)
CLANNAD & movie when it comes out (guaranteed)
    Gundam 00 (guaranteed)

Rental Magica (I’ll watch this if none of the others seem interesting)
Kimikiss pure rouge (why not looks interesting)

  46. hmm, after watching full gundam wing and seed + destiny , im hoping for a new plot of 00… i hope it wont be a war of “no one is right no one is wrong” and there will be a terrorist group that runs in their own rule and trys to define the meaning of what is “right”….

Clannad is maybe a promising one.. the only thing is, the fact that Tatsuya Ishihara
is the director mean its going to be tear fest again i suppose ( I watched both air and kanon 2006… and cried both times… in fact, i cried more than half of the kanon 2006 episodes )

Hero tales might be a good one hmm, having it being written by Arakawa Hiromu is what interest me

Shakugan no shana is most likely to be a very good one except that extending its old plot and story line might be quite boring … not only that, the 1st few episodes which i guess is going to be recaps of the old one for those new to this , might be boring for those who watch the 1st season

I might be watching draugnaut just to hear The SOS Dan seiyuus only lol ( AYA HIRANO DAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII SUKI)

the rest is probably just waiting for previews or watch 1 – 2 episodes to get a test it out…

    hmmm

  48. A man is trying a very unusual way to propose to his girlfriend. He wants people to forward an email to as many people as possible and he hopes that it will eventually get to his girlfriend. Details here: http://www.proposal-to-mary.com

Here is what he wants people to send by email:

You could help me a lot to spread my proposal to Mary – it is important that it is distributed as widely as possible so that it eventually reaches Mary. If you would like to support my proposal to Mary, please send the following text by email to a lot of people 🙂

————- SNIP (email text end) —————

WHEN YOU RECEIVE THIS, PLEASE HELP TO DISTRIBUTE IT TO OTHER PEOPLE!

For a long time I have tried to find a special way to propose marriage to my girlfriend Mary, whom I know for five years now. I wanted it very special, romantic and memorable, something our grandchildren would still remember.

And here is my idea: I will send out the proposal to Mary to 50 complete strangers, people I don’t know – hoping, that they will forward my proposal to as many people as possible, which in turn forward it etc. And some day, I hope, it will reach Mary, after it has travelled a very long way. I know, it will take a long time and I am quite nervous…

From the poem MY Mary will know immediately that the proposal is for her.

I have created a homepage ( http://www.proposal-to-mary.com ) where you can find the current status of my quest. You can use the homepage to check if the proposal has already reached Mary (in that case it is not necessary anymore to forward the mail).

Once the proposal has reached Mary, I will put a note on these pages. Also I will publish there how many people have read the proposal so that everybody can see how far it has spread and that it is getting closer to Mary.

And of course you will find there what I am waiting for most: Mary’s answer! I can’t tell you, how nervous I am… Will she accept my proposal? Will she like the unusual way how she got it, through the hands of thousands of messengers all over the world?

Please cross your fingers for me! And please – help me by sending the mail to as many people as possible, to help it spread, so that it eventually reaches Mary.

    And here is my proposal:

Mary, please forgive me, as you know English is not my native language. And I am not a poet. But I mean it from my heart.

    My angel,

Five years ago, I will always remember the day When fate made us meet, blissful Alaskan moments in May Earth spun around us and a journey began Love, warmth, happiness, enough the years to span.

The longer it lasts the more grows our bond And with 80 still – of you I will be fond Whatever happens, I will stay at your side Through good and bad, together let us stride

No second with you was ever wasted
You are the sweetest I have ever tasted
We have spent so many years – why not a life?
Mary, will you marry me – and become my wife?

Mary, if you have received that and have recognized me, then give me a sign so that I can continue with the romantic part of my proposal…
