Hikasa Youko – LOVE Machine PV (Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin)

Remember the third Anime no Chikara project last season that turned out to be a little bit of a surprise hit? Well, the first two volumes of DVD/BD releases have been available for some time now, and included with the first one is an anime PV of Hikasa Youko’s cover of Morning Musume’s 1999 hit song “LOVE Machine”. For those with a 3DTV, the Blu-ray release also included a 3D version of this little bonus, which is a part of the character cover songs included in each volume. The theme for the character songs in this series is covers of popular songs from the 1990s simply because the series takes place in 1999. Unfortunately, the later ones don’t feature PVs of the other characters’ songs, but the second volume does include the first of four mini side stories. The first one is titled “Welcome Tsucchii” and is more or less an animated short akin to what you’d expect from a picture drama, and shows Maya with Ami when they were kids and found a legendary snake known as a Tsuchinoko and made it their pet. It’s cute in the sense that we get to see more of Maya’s occult fascination when she was a kid, but doesn’t really add anything to the overall story. I actually prefer the video above with the characters all busting a move near the end of it and Fumiaki freaking out about Junichirou’s corpse’s head falling off. See below for some caps of the side story.

    Hikasa Youko <3

    Great seiyuu and singer.

For those who haven't heard it yet, go listen to Jusin, her character track from Seikon no Qwaser. She's also in the OP/ED songs in Seikon no Qwaser, Passionate squall is good too and is in Divine's playlist on the right.

I always though Maya’s character design was how you did sexy without being too forward, although it does look retro. No need for panty shots and such cheap tricks too. Also because the lower end of her one piece is not skin tight, it doesn’t come off as cheap.

Now her personality though needs some work due to her overly violent ways (though some might like it that way)

I thought putting in hit songs from the 90s because the setting was in 1999 was a brilliant idea. It brought back a lot of memories. I was lucky to be in Japan at the time since those were the songs you would see in HEYx3 and all the high school girls would talk about it. The best part about that time, 1 USD got 150 JPY and an arcade game only cost 100. PARADISE.

this is so bad, as in for those who don’t know the anime and watch this and think they’re actually seeing a “girl” naked in those naked scenes LOL

Dang, I miss watching this show, the zany occult antics, and the catchy OP song (luckily I have it on my iPod XD). That said, the music video is pretty amusing, especially with all the characters dancing (Fumiaki, haha) and with all the fan-service-y shots of Maya (whom I still think is the sexiest anime heroine character since Yoko from Gurren Lagaan). Kid Maya is just adorable too (before she got all tsundere) and now I want to track down this picture show mini-ep!

This anime has a catchy OP, ED and now character song? Haha, well, the story needs a bit of improvement but I’m glad I watched it.

I’d forgotten what a tease this seris was in terms of camera angles and shadowing… much more entertaining than ink splashes or badly applied steam.

As a teenager of the 90′s it feels so young all over again.

Akia, learn your gens. Kago didn’t come in until “Happy Summer Wedding,”

Oh god. No one cannot replace Johnson for me, but Hikasa rocks singing this song; and the PV is pretty awesome
