「ピアノ」 (Piano)
“Piano”

If the anime decided to do things like from the start, I think we’d be in a much better position. Basically, after being jerked around for weeks on end we finally got an episode that was genuinely pretty decent.

Dependable Hina

As I’ve said for weeks on end, the “side” characters of Glasslip seem to be more interesting than the main group the show keeps trying to push at us. Somehow, someway, they end up doing things that seem to capture my attention and keep it focused on them. After becoming something much more than just “the younger sister”, I absolutely loved Hina’s determination this week as she covered for Touko. Watching her go a far as eating a second dinner to keep the illusion of Touko being home put a huge smile on my face. Because come on now — who wouldn’t want a younger sister as reliable (and kawaii) as Hina!?

Touko’s Journey This Far

Something that’s continuously garnered my attention has been the ever-changing state that Touko seems to be in. We first met her as a carefree girl who loved spending time with her friends and have watched every single step she’s taken as everything around her has changed for better or worse. The thing is though, it feels like she wants things to stay the same but really hasn’t done much to stop it from happening. I’ve tried over and over to figure out why she’d let these things happen and could only come to one conclusion — it must be because of Kakeru the anomaly who changed everything. Now, I’m not trying to be pushy here but seeing how he’s slowly chickening out of the situation he brought upon Touko in the first place. how can you not blame him? All I know for sure is that unless he does something drastic to redeem himself, he’ll probably go down as one of the biggest douchebags of the year.

Everyone Else Moving Forward

In a surprise turn of events, I was really surprised to see everyone else in the group slowly making some headway in their own respective ways. While it only made up a fraction of the episode, it makes me smile to see that there are still positive things happening. Between Yanagi and Yuki slowly figuring out their feelings for one another (I’m really hoping Yuki doesn’t relapse while talking to Touko) and Sacchi and Hiro finally leaping out of the little shell they created around themselves — things are looking up!

Snow In Summer and Looking Ahead

With the last two episodes coming around the corner, I’m slowly starting to get a little excited to see how things are going to end. With the entire town covered in snow and Kakeru slowly pulling away (kind of) from Touko, only time will tell whether or not things will end smoothly.

See you next week!

  1. I usually get a bad feeling when things go so well when its 2 more episodes until the series finishes. It’s like in many animes where the “losing” girl confesses to a guy few episodes before the final episode, and the guy responds back positively making her look like the “winner” but the guy chooses some other girl in the final episode. (Hate the term winner and loser since some girls could have done better than the guy they were after in many animes but I couldn’t think of any other words lol). It just seems to happy atm.

Also I’m glad I was right about Sacchan in the comment few episodes ago. Deep down, she is a sweet girl. Hiro will make the sweetest boyfriend ever (not just sweet but strong! Being able to piggy back a girl while hiking like that and it’s obvious sacchan won’t go out with him but I do hope I am wrong about this) but I am a bit curious as to what they mentioned about something that will happen tomorrow.

I’m a huge supporter of Yanagi and Yuki and I need Yuki is open his opens to be able to see the perfect girl in front of him. I melted when he said Yanagi was the most beautiful. But to be honest I am not a huge supported of Touko and Kakeru. The pace of their relationship seems too weird and forced to me. I also sometimes don’t get the way they think. Like when Kakeru suggested her and her parents coming over to listen to his mum play the piano I was like “Why?”. Their relationship seems a bit unnatural for my taste but then again they both have weird powers so meh.

    1. kakeru’s future abilities are based on sound that’s part of the reason why he requested touka to come over to listen to his mom play the piano. Sometimes he listen’s to his mom’s piano playing to hear fragments and when he doesnt feel like using t

No problem; to be honest, i like the fact that Glasslip just does what it wants, because what it does it does intentionally and does it with an abstract subtlety. Ive said it many times, i understand wholly the criticisms thrown at this show but it works for me on so many levels.

  2. OK, am I the only one who caught the bit at the end where Touko acts surprised that someone can see her? It sounds almost as if she is dead at that point. Any possibility some of the strangeness comes from her being a spirit that finally realizes it is not really there?

  3. All this stuff with “fragments of the future” and snow in the summer makes me think there are some weird time-warpy shenanigans at play here… Maybe I’m giving this show too much credit, but there’s still time for a twist.
