OP3: 「メモリーズ」 (Memoriizu) by GRANRODEO

「決勝戦試合開始(ファイナルティップオフ)!!」 (Kesshousen Shiai Kaishi (Fainaru Tippuofu) !!)
“Start of the Finals (Final Tipoff)!!”

Jumping back to the present, the show didn’t hesitate to throw us straight into the action — something that I really appreciate after spending quite some time diving into the psychological side of things during the Teiko arc.

The Feelings of the Team

Unlike some other sport shows where the players on the sidelines are glossed over or reduced to cannon fodder, I really like how Kuroko no Basuke tries to incorporate some of them into the games as well as gives them some screen time when the time calls for it. From the moment the episode started, we were graced with an appearance from everyone from Tsuchida to Furihata and their unique perspective for the upcoming game. Something I didn’t expect we’d see after our main cast has been missing for nearly a month. By the time all the cameos were done though, it was clear that everyone had the same goal in mind — win together as a team.

What was a surprise though was the intimate moment between Hyuga and Riko when the latter finally cut her hair. For some reason I remember her saying she’d keep it until they won the Winter Cup but maybe my memory is going bad. In either case though, I thought it would have been really adorable if Hyuga could have gotten his words out before getting Riko’s snot all over him. Because not only do the pair share some pretty good chemistry but if you told me they were secretly dating, I’d totally believe you.

Seirin vs Rakuzan

We’ve been waiting for weeks and the time has finally come — the fated match between Seirin and Rakuzan or rather Kuroko and Akashi. While I would have liked to see a bit more of the third place match, I’ll gladly take Kagami unleashing the zone and surprising the all-seeing Akashi any day. That said, I am a little concerned that Kagami entered the zone right at the start of the game. I know that we’ve seen that the support of his team and lengthen how long he can stay in that mode but what happens during any lapse in the game, like the mid-game break? Either ways, I’m glad that we got to see a surprised look on Akashi’s face since who knows how long its been since things haven’t went to his plans?

Looking Ahead

With a new opening and ending to kick off the final season of the show, it looks like things are only about to get crazier from this point. Everyone on both teams are ready to show their stuff and with more than episodes to cover every single person on the team, I can’t wait to see where things go from here!

P.S. Man, I’m so disappointed that Pacquiao lost by decision. I’m sitting here with like three different drinks in my hand and expected him to turn into a real life Kagami or something. Anyways, see you you guys next week! <3

  1. Now now, Peoples that can jump that High? Okay, this show do not take the Rules seriously, but with this Step you add more laughable on the Table…

      1. When they began showing families of Seirin members, I thought we were finally going to see Kuroko’s parents.

The last OP. The last ED. The last match. The last arc. My life is gonna suck when this is over.

The new opening is so hype! Very appropriate for this arc.

Was that Hyuga ready to confess?? All stopped by Aiko’s sneeze. Lol

Wow, for Kagami to start the game in the Zone… The ddetermination to win is strong.
    Can’t wait for next week.

  3. The new OP is pure hype. Definitely one of the best (or the best) OPs since Season 1.

As a fan of KnB for more than 2 years, I’m both excited and sad knowing we are at the final arc of the series.

I was not expecting the zone this early. That was the most intense start for Kagami.

    1. Granrodeo, Oldcodex and it was nice to hear an instrumental of “Fantastic Tune” played during this episode. And I simply can’t wait until the OSTs for this season are released.

    2. Loving the use of flashbacks in the OP and the start of the episode. It reminds me of how long I’ve been following this series. Kagami starting out in the zone surprised me. I can’t wait to see how Akashi responds to that.

      1. Blame Mayweather for turning that boxing match into a hugfest. (As a fellow Filipino watching with lots & lots of fellow Filipino, that was one hell of a disappointment right after the proclamation of the winner)

Fortunately, you won’t be seeing any “Mayweather” players here in KuroBasu

        Red HeartGold ZX
  4. Hyuuga and Riko secretly dating would be weird considering Kiyoshi and Riko were secretly dating at some point during Kiyoshi’s flashback, something that was only revealed in the post-series databook

It’s why he’s the only one who gets the first name treatment with Riko

  7. This is so exciting. I feel like Kagami entering the zone is too early. I’m scared for Seirin and yet also excited. From here on, and till the end is going to be crazy cliffhangers.
