「札束の散らばる炭鉱, カムチャッカ半島夜間奇襲電撃戦 II」 (Satsutaba no Chirabaru Tankou, Kamuchakka Hantou Yakan Kishuu Dengekisen I)
“The Coal Mine Littered With Stacks of Money, The Kamchatka Peninsula Nighttime Blitz II”

Man, I never expected Heavy Object to get so heavy, so quickly.

The Traitor

Nutsley — what a name for a traitor! Seeing how he had the nuts to backstab his team and kill one of them in cold blood! I suppose the bigger question though, is how someone like him managed to infiltrate the Legitimate Kingdom’s army. With personal constantly combing through the ranks and officers like Froleytia ready to bust anyone that’s a part of her ranks, he must have had some additional help to be a part of such a big mission.

The Idol

With Froleytia taking more of a backseat than usual this arc, this new idol girl seems to be popping up a bunch more than I expected her to. Seeing how she knows Qwenthur though, maybe she’ll be sticking around longer than just this arc? That said, I wish she didn’t have such a crappy attitude — last thing we need is a spoiled girl who complains about everything joining Qwenthur’s harem.

Because if we’re being honest, I bet Froleytia wouldn’t hesitate to knock some sense into her.

The Madman

On the other side of the mission, who would have thought we’d see Havia infected with the same fervor that’s usually reserved for Qwenthur? In the face of a titanic object that can fly, he was unusually calm this week. Helping his team maintain their composure, it was rather nice to see Havia taking a more leader-centric position this time around.

The Plan

Boy, was I not expecting the revelation Qwenthur and company came to down in the mines. Under the guise of a battle over luxury resources (any Civ 5 fans out there?), I was surprised the Faith Organization would concoct such an intricate plan to remove some naysayers from their own border! Especially when it’s a neutral anti-war faction no less!

Looking Ahead

With the original plan torn to shreds and some really shady things going on behind the scenes, I’m excited to see how Qwenthur and his team are going to resolve things. Luckily, it looks like fate might be on his side since I’m willing to bet that mecha who has a hold on him will end up being friendly. Because, come on, who doesn’t like a good story where the bad guys are actually the good guys? Catch you guys next week!

Sorry for the late post guys! I ended up in L.A. again, and didn’t get home till late last night. ;_;

  1. I imagined the Wing Balancer’s jumps to be more spontaneous and fast. Here it looks like it’s floating really slowly. Though Hime made a point to aim where it lands, the way it maneuvers just looks so slow that you’d wonder why she missed. Granted it’s a 50m tall structure that weighs thousands of tons but they’re described to be moving like martial artists with their speed and doing feats impossible for its size in the novels. I dunno, I’m sort of disappointed in how it looked.

Also, the way Westy and Cookman died here was much more tamer. The novels described them as being torn to shreds by the debris. Guess that’s a form of censorship but I hoped it would get shown no matter how brutal it looked. At least Uiharu survived.

The powersuit in the OP finally appeared. It even had the foreshadowing to it when Nutsley disappeared in the corner and then it appeared. I smiled when I saw that when the new OP came out. The way they’ll take it out is pretty sweet so I’m looking forward to it.

  2. The slow progress that our duo found out separately was agonizing and entertaining to watch
(ie. the Wing Balancer’s ability to ‘bridge gaps’, and that ploy and its close to completion.)

The fact that both Qwenthur and Havia have to sort of fill in on each other’s quirks really showed how much they’ve bonded working together, though that gunpoint scene seemed forced (and telegraphed, but meh.)

  3. Idol-chan isn’t good enough for Qwenthur’s harem. Too cliche and boring. Milinda is a superior tsundere, we don’t need an inferior one.

And can someone explain why Havia had to threaten Qwenther when they met up? I get that there was an actual reason, but the explanation went over my head, I guess. Something to do with how everyone screwed up and someone needed to take the blame later? Really didn’t get it.

    1. I’d say it was just Havia’s way of venting. He assumed Qwenthur had messed up somehow, and just felt like demanding an explanation through some hostility. After all, two people died in front of him.

As Charlotte said, it’s not like Havia was serious about shooting Qwenthur anyway.

      1. No, I get that he wasn’t serious, but then he gave a reason that made it sound like it was necessary given the current situation for them to keep going, like he just used it to avoid getting them all punished when they got back or something. It’d be easy to understand if it was just venting, though kinda out of character.

  4. I was stunned as Havia’s team when the Wing Balancer hovered across the ravine. I mean, holy crap!

And, while our heroes won’t die, I must say Heavy Object is very good in placing them in situations where they’re really struggling against the enemy-of-the-arc.

  5. The new characters died too fast… Heavy Object has a lot of problems, all episodes are full BS that doesn’t make any sense, but since it doesn’t take itself so seriously, it’s still very entertaining to watch.
