「みなさんが動物なんです!」 (Minasan ga Doubutsunandesu!)
“Everyone’s an Animal!”
In an effort to avoid any potential spoilers (or maybe more specifically speculation based on the original turning into a spoiler), I’m going to write these posts before I go and re-watch the corresponding episode from the original Fruits Basket.
For everything that happened during this second episode, you have to hand it to Tohru for keeping a level head through it all. Especially when you consider how rough life has been for her up to this point. Between losing the most important people in her life and discovering that her new housemates have a curse that turns them into animals, I don’t think anyone would fault her for losing her cool.
While we’re talking about Tohru, let’s also dip into just how considerate she is as a human being. As our lead who is quickly getting surrounded by a wide variety of guys with varying personalities, you have to love how much thought she puts into all of her actions sans accidentally “hugging” Yuki or Kyo in order to stop them from doing something. Together with her open personality where she wears her heart on her sleeve, it’s tough not to get all worked up whenever something emotional happens around her. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll openly admit that I can get emotional over the smallest of things, but there’s something about the way Fruits Basket handles things that get me to the point where the waterworks could come flowing out.
At the end of the day, this second episode did a great job at pushing the story a little further while briefly explaining just what in the world is going on. It would be nice if the show gave us a little more than just “the Soma family is cursed with the spirits of the Zodiac”, but I’m sure we’ll learn more as the series goes on. In the mean time though, it looks like we’ll have our hands full with the story handling Kyo and Yuki’s rivalry with each other since it feels like there’s a long road ahead of us.
In any case, I hope you guys enjoyed this second episode! I know I did and I can’t wait to see just what happens next week. See you then!

still more of a fan of alien eyes touru, but slowly getting there.
My memory of the original is quite fuzzy, but I don’t remember seeing Tohru with a different hairstyle. Is it just my memory?
me neither. which is why i was rather pleasantly surprised at the inclusion
About the possible spoiler talk – As someone who read the manga, I can at least tell you that there is absolutely no meaning in the ribbon of the girl in the flashback, just to comment your “Come on show” 😉
The episode was yet again very faithful to the source and I really liked it. If it goes on like this, this show will end up as one of my favorites for sure 🙂
h love the second episode as well. They are really going to make the animal counterparts several times cuter.

The music, if anyone is going to mention, is spot on with how calming it makes one feel.

’cause she loved cat from the story and he is not really prepard to be loved…
just for the ensuing fun
All aboard!
I mean, the dog guy is objectively better than everyone else that has shown up so far, but then again he’s a grown-up.
Everything is according to fate as always. In fact I just like we’re the gods that playing with their lives in different realities the original and the counterparts…
Will this follow the manga more closely than the original anime?
