「伊豆キャン!! みちゆき」 (Izu Kyan!! Michiyuki)
“Izu Camping!! On the Way”

The main event at Izu is underway in Episode 11 of Yuru Camp as the girls finally make it to their beachside campgrounds. It was a fun, cozy camping trip this time around with a ton of payoff with regards to all the prep work leading up to their excursion.

This season has had many of its food-centric scenes capture the recipes cooked within local establishments, so it’s nice to see that the girls managed to make delicious regional food of their own. Their cookout was a major success with an ajillo to go along with the char-grilled spiny lobster. The art made each of these look delicious, but my pasta-loving side had a good time looking at how they drew out the alfonsino acqua pazza pasta that Nadeshiko made with the leftover ajillo.

While Minami-sensei took a backseat on many of the girls’ camping trips, I enjoyed watching her have more involvement with their group trip to Izu. Her love for alcohol came with its detriments as Minami’s pre-gaming led to the girls having to take a cab to the campgrounds. But ultimately, the mini-bar that Minami brought with her came to good use when Nadeshiko swiped her white wine to cook the alfonsino with.

Similarly, this trip was the time for Aoi’s sister Akari to shine. Akari had a ball competing with Nadeshiko throughout the trip, going so far as to convince the group to watch a zombie film much to Nadeshiko’s fright. She also played into her sister’s conniving personality by calling back to the jowl lie she mentioned in the last episode.

Overall, it was a nice way to pass the time to see the girls playing up the chill factor by having a relaxing night after contending with such a long trip. With all the driving they’ve done between the last episode and now, it was a relief to see them huddled over a fire made from the cute talking pine cones as they enjoy some wonderful comfort food and take in the cool beachside evening.

    1. IIRC these kind of service is prominent in Japan and South Korea since they have a hard law on Drinking under the influence of Alcohol. They just drive you to your destination and just leave…

  1. One of the biggest joys about this episode was how it brought back things from the 11th episode in the first season, whether it be the reuse of an old dish’s contents to make a new dish, or watching movies before turning in.

However, the real highlight this episode was the chat Nadeshiko and Ena had towards the end of the episode. Until now, Ena had been content to sleep in and wake up late, but doing these things with everyone has inspired her to do the same and have fun bringing Chikuwa to places.

  2. Another post I read pointed out how quickly problems the girls faced this episode were solved. It’s great to see everyone become better-versed with time, allowing this series to really focus on the adventure. I can’t believe Yuru Camp 2 is ending next week.
