「ジャヒー様は遊ばない!」 (Jahy-sama wa Asobanai!)
“The Great Jahy Doesn’t Play!”

This week’s Jahy-sama wa Kujikenai! hammers through more relatable comedy as Jahy has to pick up the pieces from her anguish when the magical girl Kyouko stole away her massive mana crystal. But while she has to contend with the pitfalls of noisy neighbors and fitness, she also comes to terms with appreciating the help she gets from a kid who shows her that it doesn’t hurt to find someone who can offer a hand.

This episode was hilarious for all of the absurdity that came from Jahy’s numerous struggles. Right when Jahy starts to make a breakthrough by regularly working out and feeling rejuvenated, the Barkeep ends her exercise regimen as soon as she gets back to her normal weight. And to make matters worse, the ending skit gave us a timeline of how the Barkeep and Jahy fell off the deep end because they regained their lost weight as soon as they started regularly dipping into sweets.

Similarly, the psychological warfare of facing off against a rude neighbor making noise in the early AM’s becomes unfulfilling as soon as it’s revealed that nobody lives in the apartment that was interfering with Jahy’s rest. For all of the times that a narrator has added some comedy to an anime, it’s impressive that they managed to have a segment with a weird enough punchline that the narrator was as confused as Jahy was.

Emotional intelligence has never been in Jahy’s wheelhouse, but she made good strides in this episode when she befriends a child named Kokoro. Because Kokoro ends up appealing to Jahy’s innocence, she overlooks any of her fussiness to work together to find a crystal. They might not have found it, but she ends up really endearing herself to Kokoro and can’t even get mad when she starts wearing the clover she found her. It might still take her some time to get Druj or her other friends to give her a hand, but it was some nice progress on Jahy’s end to start from the bottom and get some kind of assistance for her crystal hunt.
