「蛮族トースマン」 (Banzoku Tousuman)
“Barbarians of the Tothman Tribe”

Well I dare say Helck is starting to go somewhere. Or at least more so than the past couple of weeks, because it sure looks like certain pieces are now coming together properly. It’s been a wait, it’ll still remain a wait, but I’ll be damned if my own interest isn’t ratcheting up a notch with each passing episode.

Outside of the titular man himself hiding a few secrets, the running mystery of Helck thus far is how humanity as a whole ascended to herodom, something which we arguably get a bit closer to courtesy of the latest monster of the week. Not too difficult seeing the similarities: small tribe gets a powerup and goes on a rampage at the behest of big boss man. Yet just like humanity where did said power come from? Is it in the vein of those aforementioned angels? And if so just how deep and interconnected is this power? Personal bet from me is it being wholly unholy in nature, with it simply manifesting as angelic splendor in the hands of men while more barbaric individuals get the full Mad Max experience witnessed here. It would at least explain some of the similarities seen so far, and come with the added one-two of having the human king potentially not be in control of his own affairs. After all, when it comes to ridiculous power, you can always safely assume that there’s another pulling the strings.

This then leads to Helck himself, because as Vamirio has now accepted, the guy is basically a tank. Although I knew it was coming, having Vamirio almost shed a tear before seeing the finish line got a hearty chuckle, and also getting Helck to quietly admit he understands his own power was fun in its own right (among other things). There’s a serious amount of strength Helck is keeping hidden, something lending further credence to the idea he knows more about what’s going on than he’s revealing, and likely also having more personal involvement with it than initially apparent. As per usual it will take some time before getting those answers (truly a running meme at this point), but I still fully anticipate a major twist before the midpoint of this series rolls up in a few weeks.

Just a question of who – or what – finally starts prying that lid loose.
