It’s that time of the year again!

What’s up everyone? Takaii here once again to post a quick shout out about one of the biggest most awesomest conventions that’s going down on the West Coast. For those of you who are out of the loop or outside of the US, Anime-Expo is one of the largest anime conventions in the country. Held in the ridiculously large Los Angeles Convention Center which is smack dab in downtown LA (which is conveniently only a short drive away from Little Tokyo) and hosts 60,000+ anime fans from all around the world. With tons of panels that are both fan and industry driven and a gigantic dealer’s hall / artist alley, there’s almost anything for everyone. Also there’s cosplay. A lot of cosplay.

For me personally, I haven’t went through the schedule yet (shame on me, I know) but this year is looking like it’ll be a return to the glory days. Besides the huge amounts of time I’ll be spending snapping photos, walking around artist alley, and hopefully interviewing people in the industry I’m totally excited to attend the awesome Kill la Kill special live event. Because if getting the opportunity to watch a bunch of bigwigs from TRIGGER and Ryuuko & Satsuki’s voice actor all appear live just for the fans wasn’t enough, there’s even going to be a live concert featuring Eir Aoi. EIR FREAKING AOI. (Disclaimer: If you didn’t already know, I’m a huge Kill la Kill fan. My “blogging” business card should probably speak volumes :p)

Besides that, I’m really hoping I get to meet any RC-ers out there who are attending AX! I say this every year and still have only met a couple of you — which is why I’m going to make a really dedicated effort to try and spot any and all of you out there. I don’t know how I’ll distinguish myself among the wave of anime fans but I swear to god I will meet more of you this year. That and if you have any bright ideas, I’m totally game to try just about anything because there’s no point in not embarrassing myself at a once-a-year event. Maybe if there’s enough people we can start a game of Ninja or something?

Anyways, you’ll be able to reach me at my regular places (@rctakaii or takaii@randomc.net) and if I’m not mistaken I’m pretty sure @Xumbra will be there too so don’t forget to send some love his way! Either ways, I hope that everyone who’s able to go is getting pumped up like me and even if you can’t go you’re still awesome <3. As usual, coverage of the convention will follow afterwards and if you didn’t derp like me and have checked out the schedule — what do you think is worth going to / checking out?

  1. I was so looking forward to this and then circumstances came up and I won’t be going this year. Better luck next year for me but have a great time and snap some amazing pics as always!

      1. I’m clinging to the dream that next year will be the year I return to the convention scene! I guess this does actually give me the time to prepare a cosplay as well. 🙂

  2. I wish I could be at one of those big American cons. Luckily there’s still cons where I live, one of which is only 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) away. The size can’t be compared, though. (A measly 4.000 visitors instead of 60.000) Anyway, have fun, those events sound like they’re gonna be awesome.

      1. Why of course. The job part is key after all. Need the stable income to finance these kinds of trips, which is why I’m holding off till next year at the earliest. Not to mention, the price of a Blizzcon ticket is equivalent to the getting a ticket for all the days of AX + at least one way of the plane ride so… still comparatively cheaper by far.

  3. I don’t really comment much but I’ve been a reader since Omni and Divine were still blogging. I’d love to come meet other RCers but it’ll be difficult since I’m staffing again this year. Hopefully I can this year since I didn’t get a chance to last year! ;-;

      1. Want me to email you or post the details here? My university’s anime club should also be there, and I think I can schedule a meet up with people fairly easily. I know the area pretty well.

    1. As much as I want to say that’s lame, I can totally feel you. The past few Anime-Expo’s haven’t been that great but as I said in the post I’m really getting some good vibes from this one. Vibes I felt back when Miku and Toyota showed up.

  4. Well, I am going…been planning for a year. Pretty stoked as this is my second AX- first by myself!!! Though, I can’t do everything, but I am in a do or die mode in getting Gen Urobuchi-tan’s autograph (HUGH Fate series fan) and the SAO II Premier (of course getting Reki, Kazuma, and abec’s autographs too!

  5. It will be my first time going to Anime Expo this year! 😀 Can’t wait to see what it’s like. I’m not sure how I’d distinguish any RC’ers or bloggers there, but I should be wearing a Zuko costume with a small avatar group and cosplay as Yato from Noragami on half the days, haha.

  6. I’ll be at AX mainly buying copious amounts of posters and merchandize I don’t need but dammit this is only once a year. >< I'm mainly in the Exhibit Hall buying stuff

    If you guys do actually set up a RC meet up, make sure to make an post about it so I can come. I'll be there all 4 days

      1. Hah, in the last couple years, I’ve had a greater desire to enjoy the actual convention, since I miss so many autograph opportunities. But, I’ve been doing this for a few years and enjoy it as well. So many attendees always need assistance and I like helping them get where they need to go.

        As far as I’m aware, I’m the only staffer who goes around with an AX fanny pack and AX messenger bag, so if you see one like that, it’s probably me 😛
