Shin Sekai Yori – 22
「東京」 (Toukyou)
“Tokyo”
If this is supposed to be the stage for Shin Sekai Yori‘s climax, well then, I can think of few other settings better than wasteland Tokyo.

「劫火」 (Gouka)
“Fires of the Apocalypse”
“Gee Squealer, What d’ya want to do tonight?” “Same thing we do every night. Try to take over the world!”
「冷たい日だまり」 (Tsumetai Hidamari)
“Drenched in Cold Sunlight”
Ever wondered what the end of the end of the world might look like? Well, here’s your answer.
「暗闇」 (Kurayami)
“Darkness”
This first encounter with the fiend was everything I had hoped it would be and more, bringing that perpetual tension in the show to some terrifying heights.
「紅い花」 (Akai Hana)
“Crimson Flower”
Not to discount the slew of explosive developments here, but I still find it hard to believe we’re approaching a climax.
「破滅の足音」 (Hametsu no Ashioto)
“Footsteps of Ruin”
This is rare for an anime- nay, any kind of story in general: a daring leap 12 years forward into the future, where the kids we’ve been following are now adults. Does it work? Oh hell yes it does.
「愛する早季へ」 (Aisuru Saki e)
“To Saki, My Love”
It only took us some 16 episodes, but Shin Sekai Yori finally got its (semi) OP! This must be some kind of record, yea?
「残像」 (Zanzo)
“Afterimage”
The queerats finally return to the forefront of the show, and they’re making one hell of a splash with their brand new constitution.
「雪華」 (Yuki Hana)
“Snowflakes”
If this is the prelude to what we can expect in Shin Sekai Yori’s second half, there’s probably little worry about any drop in quality. This was a meaty episode that threw some really interesting game-changers our way.
「再会」 (Saikai)
“Reunion”
I have my complains about the animation, but it certainly doesn’t break Shin Sekai Yori’s trend of delivering an engrossing episode every successive week.
